So complicated to set up

I did get the Garmn Vivo5 watch because of the advertised battery life; but I was soon disappointed that beyond that the watch is so cumbersome and ackward to set up. Walking is my sport and with this watch the measured distance diminishes each time I use the feature (what in the world?) After a long look for an adjustment for the distance, I get a long and cumbersome explanation on how to calibrate the size of my step when it should be a simple and straight forward process. I also should mention that beyond my disappointment with measuring distance the battery life in the watch so far is very good. I wish i could return this watch and go back to my Apple Watch with short battery but very reliable and easy way to measure long distance walks without a college degree in watch set up. I would be willing to follow instructions from a human instead of a page of senseless page of written instructions. For future buyers I hope that some authority in Garmin reads this note and decides to take action to solve the issue above mentioned

Good and frustrating

Features are great. BEWARE the watch face scam - if you load the face app you can never return to the default settings without Paying MORE. Instructions mentioned importing historical data from vivo active4 but at 6 weeks of wearing it still isn’t reading my normal ( rx boosted ) heart rate and so over estimating stress based solely on HR. Also this is a Big watch. A little tough on people with small wrists. I wish there were natural fiber / breathable band options - any dampness under the default gives me a red rash. I like the features but I wish it was smaller and used my history

Lots of useful features at a great price

I’m not a runner or a hiker. I don’t do triathlons, and I don’t do marathons, I do a lot of daily walks, and I train with free and machine weights at a gym. I also train on a treadmill, stair master, and a spin bike. My Vivoactive 5 is perfect for my fitness needs. It replaced my vivoactive 3 and I love the battery life on the Vivoactive 5. It’s light weight and is comfortable to sleep with to track my sleep. I find it easy to use.

I love it!!!

I absolutely love my vivoactive 5. I have been a Fitbit user for 15 years. I can honestly say now that I have converted to Garmin and will stay. I love all the features, it is accurate and feel the accuracy is better. If you are on the fence between Garmin and Fitbit, go Garmin!! Forgot to mention the battery life is Amazing!!!

LOVE this watch!

I purchased this watch for myself and my wife a few weeks ago and we absolutely LOVE it! We both had Apple Watches for years and they don’t come close to the capabilities of this watch in metrics and battery life in particular. I also really enjoy the amount of options to customize data and workout or activity options. The watch also has a swimming mode and can be worn in the shower. This watch is great for anyone who is active or wants to be motivated to become more active. You get a lot of value for the price. Highly recommend!

It's a love/hate relationship

There are parts of this device that I LOVE, like the easy to use buttons and easy to read face. However, I do NOT like the body battery or the way they score my sleep. My old watch told me I was getting lots of deep and REM sleep, and I always feel rested. This watch always tells me I had poor/non-restorative sleep. Then during the day, even when I'm just having a relaxing, nice day, it tells me it was a STRESSFUL day. It is full of all these spiky orange lines that show how stressed I am. I tell you - it's the device that is stressing me out! It's been about 3 weeks, so I was HOPING it would adjust to my own body rhythms, but it has not. It could be because I have fibromyalgia and that affects my heart rhythm. Otherwise, I'm really healthy. Basically, if you are healthy, with no problems, it's a great watch/fitness tracker. I like all the other features.

Excellent except for one detail

I moved from a Garmin Lily to the vivoactive and too my surprise, my sleep quality is now rated as Poor, Fair, etc. I sleep well most nights and accept I move more than average. I wish I could turn the ratings as I am desirous to only learn time asleep. Remember that Jimmy Buffett song about Junior Mints and watered down Cherry Coke at the movie theater? Sleep rating for some of us is over programming.

Great

I bought my Vivoactive 5 a little over a month ago as motivation to start running again. I once owned a Vivoactive 3, but I grew tired of wearing a smart watch and went without one for several years. I must say the great features (golf, coaching, and general lifestyle tracking) have been a huge positive in my life. The watch is a lot lighter than my previous model, which makes an all day wear effortless. My next steps (pun intended) are to achieve my new weight and fitness goals!

Like the Vivoactive 5

The Vivoactive 5 watch has some nice features. You can set a time to take a small nap ( I like this feature). Not sure yet of some of the features like HRV status, not sure what this is telling me. Also, the Recovery, not sure yet what this is telling me. It has been telling me how I am sleeping, which is apparently not so good. Not sure how to make it better, but I do like this watch, at least I know I am apparently not sleeping very well. I like that it has the time, day and date on the front watch. It does have a sleep mode and if you touch it you can see what time it is. You can press walk and it will time your walk and when you are done you can stop it and it will enter you walk for you. So far I do like this watch.

Garmin Vivoactive 5

Garmin Vivoactive 5 has improved functions - main face with all the information is great. I like the sleep score and information on how to improve it. However, the strength choice on Vivoactive 3 was better than the 5 model. Vivoactive 3 sensed the movements that you were doing in your workout and registered those. Vivoactive 5 does not sense the movements that you are doing. I wrote them in. It also doesn't sense when you are active in weight training, so it says you've done one set, when you've done 12 sets. I wish that the strength portion stayed as good as the Vivoactive 3 model. The 5 model has made other improvements, though.
