Garmin loyalist

I loved my technical Garmin (epix gen 2) so much but wanted something more practical for everyday wear. I’m loving this version for daily activities such as yoga and strength training at the gym. I’ve been wearing it everyday for several months and it still looks brand new! I would recommend this item for someone just getting into smart fitness watches who is interested in a low profile and just the basics in terms of fitness recording.

Love it

I’ve been a Fitbit devotee since they came out, but all the changes had made me want to find something else. I’m glad I did! I love my Garmin Vivoactove5. The features and app are great! I love the ease of use. The alarm, tracking and workout options are fantastic

More than expected

The watch is great and an improvement over the Vivoactive 4s. The main improvement, so far, is that the charger easily attaches and stays attached. All the bells and whistles are useless when you can’t charge the watch. Not sure I like the nap sensor as it said I was napping in church. Honestly I wasn’t!

A really useful, casual daily tool

I’ve had this watch for about 3 weeks and it’s a HUGE upgrade from the Suunto watch I had been using previously. It’s intuitively designed, light (some reviewers have described it as “cheap” feeling, but I see this as a feature, not a bug), and it’s quite responsive to activity. I barely notice it when it’s on and it seems to track sleep and activity quite well. I gave it a 9 strictly because it doesn’t seem to hang too well in the water, and I’d love to see a surf activity added, but it’s not a deal breaker. Also, the strength training mode is a little wonky, but there are workarounds for that. Overall, great experience so far, and I’m definitely happy I opted for this low profile, fitness focused watch in place of an Apple Watch. If you’re looking for something more triathlon or sport focused I’d upgrade to one of Garmin’s more premium watches but for daily wear I’m very happy with it!

Has all of the essentials.

I originally had the Vivoactive 3, which I liked. I use it primarily to sync with my outdoor and indoor bike riding to include strength training and yoga. Oddly, I like the many selections for the actual face of the watch. I also like that it syncs with my IPhone and Garmin Connecs. I preferred to go with Fenix series, but they were too pricey. In fact, I waited for this one to go on sale. Overall, a solid watch for what I need.

Used throughout the Day

My third Vivoactive watch. I depend on it to track my sleep quality and activity as well as alerting me to text messages and calls on my iphone. I would have rated it excellent, but I am a bit disappointed in the support for the watch. I can't seem to find out how to change the weather reading from Celsius to Farenheit.

Thanks for your review! You can change the unit of measure for temperature on your vivoactive 5 by following these steps: 1. Swipe up or down to view the weather glance. 2. Select the glance to view the current weather for your location. 3. Hold the bottom-right button. 4. Select Weather Options. 5. To change the unit of measure for temperature, select Temperature. This is my second Garmin

This is my second Garmin, and I like it better than the first. The first was an Instinct, and although I did like it, it was difficult to work with and I found it very frustrating to operate. I am finding the Vivoactive to be very user friendly simple to use it's functions. The other part is that being a woman, the Instinct was very masculine and my Vivoactive is more feminine, which is to my liking. Overall, I would say, so far so good. Battery life is always good on Garmins and it was very easy to setup on the app.

Features were ok

Had issues navigating certain things with the watch but also couldn’t navigate back to where I was. Watch wouldn’t work. The system shut down. Watched video several times and that didn’t help either because what they suggested wouldn’t work on where I wanted to go on certain things. The system kept going back to where I didn’t want to go so I gave up. And shut the watch off and restarted it. And hoping that would fixed the issue but that did cortex the problem either. And the other issue I was trying to see about downloading for if u fell inside the house and it wouldn’t allow me to do this either. And if u loose the watch u we’re supposed to be able to get hold of finding your watch with your phone did not work either. But I did like the watch the color was beautiful. The buttons killed my fingers it bruised my fingers because of so many times of having to navigate the buttons to push because of having change certain changes on the watch. My fingers are very tender I would not recommend these watches for Elderly people especially if they have navigate the buttons all the time. I would recommend Garmin looking into making Watches for Elderly people a little easier to navigate there watches for us. Thanks

Love it!

I’ve been an avid Apple Watch user and wanted a change to help track my sleep with longer battery life! Needless to say, I love the watch and only wish I would have made the switch earlier. I never used my Apple Watch for anything but the time, date, weather, and exercise tracking. - but if you use your Apple Watch for more things like app utilization, calls and replying to texts (that is something you don’t get with Garmin). I will be a Garmin user from now on!

Just What I Needed

I had been a longtime Fitbit user but was ready for an upgrade. I’d read about Garmin for some time and I’m glad I made the switch. There’s way more features and it gives me great insights. The only thing is that I’m use to having an average resting heart rate after every night of sleep, this watch only gives 7 week averages which doesn’t help me. I’m still trying to figure out how to get a general RHR per day as it is important for my heart monitoring.
