Inconsistent: Some are bad and some are good.
Bought from Utah Sams club: Unusable. So floppy and flimsy that even with a helper I found that I could not erect them and had to return. Supports did not lock into place. 1 star. Delivered from online purchase: Different product entirely. The shelves were packed separately with a protective cardboard on top and bottom and sealed together as a set. The metal posts felt thicker and stronger. The shelf supports locked into place. I was able to assemble securely and sturdy. Great product great price. 5 stars.
Sketchy
I’ve purchased Member’s Mark shelving before and it was very sturdy feeling and has held up to some abuse. This one will be great if you are putting paper goods like toilet paper, paper towels, or paper plates on it. The…”locking system” for joining the upper and lower tiers is a joke. The top sections rests on the lower and is only held in place by the shelf supports locking into the keyholes. That’s it! If you use a rubber mallet to seat the supports into the keyholes you WILL make it come apart. Despite the metal being as thin as paper the bottom section feels secure enough to put a little weight on it if it’s evenly distributed. There is no way i would trust more than 100-125 lbs per shelf on the bottom or more than 30-40 on the top though. If i hadn’t disposed of the packaging i would return it. Highly disappointed in this purchase.
AWFUL UNIT
Terrible product. The pins do not stay in and the metal bends and twists. It is impossible to put on the top section. Not sure how this even made it past the testing phase of production. I have to travel over an hour to get to a store to return it. Total waste of money, especially with gas prices.
Run Forest, Run
The Good: Shipping was very quick, much better than the big on-line vendor, and product arrived in good condition. The Bad: This is the 12th shelf of this style that I have purchased from SC so I am not a novice in the assembly and quality aspect of this type of shelf. Comparing this shelf to the ones that I purchased several years ago it is not in the solar system, the galaxy, or the universe. It would be impossible to manufacture a cheaper made product than this one. The assembly will take two people (1-1/2) as the pins keep popping out of the keyholes. The older model keyholes were a tight fit and they stayed in place. The metal parts are extremely thin: Old posts = 0.079 thick and New posts = 0.052 thick (old posts 48% thicker). Old rails = 0.076 thick and New Rails = 0.033 thick (old rails130% thicker). I am very dissatisfied with this purchase but not enough to disassemble, rebox, and tote back to SamsClub. I will not be buying another shelf of this type from SC and would definitely not recommend this product to anyone.
Impossible junk...to assemble
DO NOT BUY THIS ! This shelf is complete junk. The way in which it's designed...connecting the top to the bottom is incredibly difficult. You'll need an army of hands and arms, to hold and stabilize all the various pieces, while attempting to construct it. You will likely end up with a repackaged item, not entirely 'new'...because i highly suspect that this product is being returned for refunds, at a high rate. So, you are likely ending up with someone else's problem. REMEMBER...I warned you. DO NOT BUY !!
Great Value
I was a little skeptical after reading some of the reviews. After much back and forward, I decided to give this a try. I need several but got one to test it out and love it. It is sturdy and simple to put together. I did it all by myself and only required assistance to attach the top to bottom since it’s assembled as two separate pieces. My only concern is precisely that tit is not one solid piece but we are going to add some zip ties just to make sure they dont detash. Other than that, I love this alternative for storage. I am ordering 4 more today. ;)
Not "industrial"
Anyone claiming this is a heavy duty shelf does not know what heavy duty shelf is. I purchased many heavy duty shelves of this type and style, many from Sam's Club back when did sell good shelving. Over the years they have downgraded the quality of their shelving products so much that it's not even worth buying. This one so flimsy and cheap that loading to its "rated" capacity of 3600 pounds is just asking for trouble, possible fatal trouble at that. If you need heavy duty they stay clear of this product. Shop at a real industrial supplier like global because Sam's shelving is NOT heavy duty.
Terrible shelfs
I ordered 10 of these for a storage unit. Nine were delivered and one package was damaged. The shelf unit inside was damaged. I contacted Sam's and ask for a replacement and also let them know the order was one short. After beginning to assemble the shelves we found other damaged shelf units. I have gone back and forth with the "help center" and finally got one replaced and will have to reorder the 10th unit. The assembly is very difficult and time consuming and the shelves tend to fall apart before you can stand them up. We have had to bolt them to the wall to steady them and give them strength. If we weren't in a bind to get stuff into storage I would have just had them come get them all. These are the worse shelves I have ever seen. Do yourself a favor and buy the more expensive ones. Save yourself time, frustration and major headache.
NOT SO GREAT (ANYMORE)
We have purchased several of these units in the past. They were great. The new version that recently arrived at our local club are no where near the quality of the older versions. The metal is thin and easily bent and we were not able to successfully assemble a shelf as the shelf brackets would not remain in the locked position. I will be returning them.
Super simple!
I made my purchase on samsclub.com for curbside pickup. They loaded it in my car within minutes of my arrival. Directions are very clear and it was super simple to put together. I did it alone in under an hour. I wish I could buy some extra cross bars & shelves.
