Love Sam's

One breast is big enough for more than one person.

Yellow and dry meat

Several times have had to return chicken due to meat being dry, yellow in color and crusty. Noticed this last package had a shelf life of at least 11 days from date of purchase.

Not great flavor

I seasoned these with SPG in olive oil like I normally do and cooked them in my sous vide. They didn’t have much flavor at all. They tasted off and the texture was weird. They felt like I had cooked them for 20 hours and became stringy and just not good. I’ll be buying from my local meat market from now on.

Not as good as what I used to buy at Sam’s Club

I much prefer the individually vacuum wrapped chicken breast that Sam’s Club used to carry. I couldn’t find better quality in a premium butcher shop. Now I buy these and vacuum seal them myself but the quality and tenderness is just not there anymore. I miss the Members Mark brand I used to buy.

Out-of-date chicken sold!

I purchased a large pack of chicken breasts but in my haste, and on a budget, i searched the bin for the best looking/lowest priced pack. Ive never had an issue previously with past date product but this time was it. About 4days later, i started to smell something funny in my fridge. The next day i pulled out the chicken to clean and separate it... but that was what was stinking in my fridge. I looked at the date, and noticed it was a full week out of date. I was flabbergasted. This means i purchased it and was already 3 says beyond the sell/freeze date. I called & spoke with Connie in the fresh meat dept & she said i could bring it back &exchange except being a cancer patient, i never when a bad day will pop up... and of it did for the following 2 days. By that time my entire kitchen smelled foul. All from the chicken i had stored in the refrigerator for return. Very disappointed & out $15.10 of protein. I didn't bother at that point to return it bc of my lateness... but being offered for your consumer already out of date is ridiculous & unsafe.

Stringy weird texture and consistency

The latest batch I got had a consistency almost close to strands that could be stringy. I could actually rip the chicken in half. I don’t remember until very recently the quality of the chicken everywhere, not just Sam’s, being less dense like this. I used to think it went thru a processing machine and got “chewed” by a roller or something, but lately any store I get it at, the consistency and sometimes the color is off. It even seems different as you cook it in the pan, it almost stays white and doesn’t get a nice browning on it. I’ve been seeing this everywhere lately, was surprised to see it at Sam’s because I paid more for it. I do appreciate that this is a healthier option and never frozen, I will try it again and I hope this was just a one time thing.

Eww no. This isn’t the way chicken should be.

Usually I buy my chicken from Food Lion (Natures Promise) or the Organic chicken from Sam’s. Sam’s has issues keeping the organic in stock. To simplify life I picked up a couple packs of this hoping if I marinated the chicken it would pass. Nope. It’s more of a texture issue. Oddly tuff sections , stringy, and overall completely inferior to the organic or other stores product.

Seems like quality item, but beware

I thought the boneless chicken breasts were a good idea given that they have no added hormones and are all natural, but it seems they are more plump than other grass fed, all natural breasts that I’ve had in the past. I’m not sure if they are injected with anything to bolster their weight and accelerate their growth, but I would surmise they are based on how they cook and when they are compared to other boneless chicken breasts.
