A Few Features Would Make This a 5 Star Review

The features I'd have liked to see in this phone have to do with ringtones/alarms and notifications. I had hoped that the sound files would have transferred from my Galaxy 5, but it didn't happen. I was disappointed to find that some of the ringtones/alarms with the same names as the older ones sound very different. As for notifications from apps - I turned the ones I'm not concerned with off and found that others have been turned off - and I can't seem to find a way to get them back. Oh, yes, I understand that it's all intuitive. Unfortunately they didn't use my intuition!

Phenomenal

Simply the best device I've owned. I do wish the battery was replaceable, even if that made it a bit thicker - but other than that, this thing has been amazing. It's fast, the screen is perfect, and it's made the Gear VR experience worthwhile for me for the first time. Excellent all-around! I even just ordered a dex to get even more from it. The High def audio chips and headphone jack are an absolute must-have. I was able to slot in my 200G microSD full of high-def FLACs and play music with no issues (I did have to get a better music app, but that's tiny)

Love this product

This product is amazing. You can do a lot with the phone. I like how you can personalize the phone more then the older phones. It's also pretty easy to use. Samsung overall is an amazing company. always trying to give us want we want. The New camera features are impressive. Samsung Changed a lot about the product while also keeping it the same as there other products. It's very high tech looking and feeling and i like that.

Love this new phone, EXCEPT...

This new phone is feature rich. The recent update to Bixby makes it usable. The bigger issue is they claim the screen is almost indestructible, it slid off the coffee table and hit the floor cracking the screen. I only had the phone for less than 2 months when this happened. I previously had a Moto X that was virtually impossible to damage

Flawless...so far

I've alternated between android and iPhones every year because I get bored easily. My last android was a Galaxy 5 and it had a lot of glitches so I'm hoping I don't see this in my new s8. So far though it's flawless and I'm extremely happy with it. The only down side currently is I feel like in 2017 the battery life should be better. But it's just as good as any other phone out there.

Good phone for an old guy

I'm in my early 70's and have had an Iphone for the past 5 years. I switched to the new Galaxy S8 and am amazed at how much more user friendly the phone is. Other than the initial data transfer and setup that was done by the store, I have been able to set up everything else on the phone. Texting is much easier, organizing things easier, taking a picture, one click and I'm looking at it on my big screen tv. Couldn't be happier.

From the iPhone to a Galaxy

I've been using an iPhone for almost 8 years now and I've had my fair share of love/hate with it. I've always preferred the Apple layout: simplistic, easy to use, and efficient. I've been able to get around the phone without too much trouble and it ran every app smoothly. However, when I started dating my current boyfriend, I was more introduced to android considering he and all of his family have Samsung Galaxies. I had an iPhone 6S and I noticed the screen resolution was much better on all of their androids and that the android was much more planner-friendly and had more features and more customization. After much deliberation, I finally made the switch. I am absolutely in love with my Samsung Galaxy S8. So much that I needed to write a review! I have mine in the color orchid gray and it is just the regular S8, not the bigger one. The phone is slightly longer than my iPhone, something I was concerned about, but I barely notice the difference. The S8 is very slim and comfortable to hold and not too heavy or too light. The screen resolution is stunning and both cameras work really well. I took a fishing trip a day or two after activating my galaxy and it took beautiful pictures of the water (and even a really impressive fish I caught). The speakers and microphone are much louder and more sensitive than my iPhone, which is great because I'm practically deaf while talking on the phone and like to talk on speaker. I was cautious about the 3D touch buttons on the bottom, but they actually work well. The only complaint I have is that it's hard to press the home button in some apps. The S8 does everything I need and more. I'm someone who likes to plan and be able to see full months or weeks at a time. I love the widget feature of android so I can put the things I want on each of my pages and get rid of the things I don't. So far, this phone is keeping me more organized than my old phone ever did. The themes and wallpapers were a new and interesting feature as well since you could only customize wallpapers on the iPhone. The Galaxy runs every app I need it to without difficulty, and it looks great doing it! I'm an avid Dragonvale player and all of my little dragons look so cute in high definition. If you are even the slightest bit worried about switching to a Galaxy from the great iPhone, don't be! Just give it a try. I think it will surprise you.

Significant upgrade to GSIII

My last phone was a Galaxy SIII so naturally this was quite the upgrade. The screen is clear and bright and I can appreciate the larger size without being too big. Battery life so far has been excellent lasting ~2 days without GPS use or gaming/video. Quick charging with the OEM charger is very fast. The facial recognition is a bit sketchy and I often just use the fingerprint method to unlock. Some complain about placement but I have long fingers so it is not an issue for me. The look and feel is very nice so I opted for a minimalist cover/case, in fact I bought the Samsung brand. This does not include screen coverage or much drop protection but with Gorilla glass I'm not worried and prefer the sleek feel and clean look. Still waiting for my 'Entertainment Pack' (Memory Card, Stand & Netflix).. One more thing, the provided AKG headphones are decent but the controls only offer volume up/down no pickup/hangup button.

Good camera. No major issues yet.

I have only had this phone for about 8 months, so can't tell how it will hold up over time. So far, the battery life is good. I charge with a Samsung wireless charger and I have to be careful when I put it on the charger, there have been times when it didn't charge at all. Most of the time, it does charge and the wireless seems to charge quickly enough. Updates to the software did some things that I felt was a step or two backward. I do not use the 'phone' feature much (I just don't like talking on the phone), but the sound quality is good. There are a few minor issues that I hope Samsung finds a solution for, the two most important (to me) are: 1) Although you can sync your contacts, photos, etc, to the Samsung cloud in case you lose your phone or purchase a new one, you cannot access those items on a desktop or laptop computer. 2) I can't explain this, but you can swipe 'up' a certain way and it opens Samsung Pay, or you can swipe 'up' a little differently and it all apps are visible. With continued use, it just becomes automatic how to swipe to get what you want. The same with swiping 'left'. If you swipe 'left' one way, you open a handy shortcut menu, if you swipe 'left' another way you are able to access other screens. It has something to do with the 'edge' feature. And it's nice for the most part, with continued use you learn to swipe 'up', or 'left' or 'right' from either the middle of the screen or the edge, depending on what you want to access. However, I wish there was more of a distinction between the two because when I get in a hurry, seems like I always tend to swipe incorrectly and I don't get access to what I intended. Details, details, I'm sure Samsung will change all this in the future with 'new and improved' designs and it won't be an issue - - but just a little drawback to this particular model. But for the most part, I think this is a good phone. I haven't dropped it yet, so can't tell you how it holds up to abuse. It is heavy in my purse, and the size is large for my hands, but I enjoy the large screen and can't have a large screen if the phone is tiny. This phone doesn't waste space on the screen which is nice. All buttons are located on the sides or are just areas that you can tap at the bottom and only come up when usable. If you are surfing the web, you get the full use of the screen.

Not impressed.

Sooo, I was absolutely in love with my Samsung 7, and after having the S8 for about 4 months, I already want to go back to my old phone. Within the 1st 2 weeks, my advanced messaging stopped working which wouldn't allow me to send or receive messages. Then my phone stopped vibrating or ringing when I received notifications, so I constantly have to check my phone to see what I've missed. And now my volume button doesn't work. I hate this phone.
