Love it!

The only problem is you can't use your previous cables, they changed to a new connection. And the new ones are not in stock with ATT or Samsung. Yes, new power cable comes with phone, but no car charger or extras available. Other than that, love the phone. Screen has a nice feel with curved edge, this is not the Edge phone, that makes it easier to use the edges of the screen, especially when typing on keyboard. Screen seems to be resistant to fingerprints and cleans easily. Did my own set up and data transfer from Samsung 6 and didn't have too many problems, it just was time consuming. Had to buy new battery for S6, the S8 seems 0to be adequate, so far, but it's new. Samsung removed buttons below the screen, they show on the screen instead. That takes a little adjusting, but not too difficult. I usually use a screen protector and a hard case as I am a klutz. But I shopped online and bought a fingerprint resistant screen protector and applied it and it was so hard and thick that I couldn't use anything on the screen as it was too thick to register my taps. Nowhere could I find a way to make the touch more sensitive. Returned it. Hard case I bought is much easier to remove and apply than for S6, made of a more rubbery substance than last one that was hard plastic and you had to break it to remove it. This one is flexible but still protective. So I'm being daring and going sans screen protector because I really like the look and feel of the naked Samsung 8 screen.

Great phone but nothing to jump for joy about.

I use my phone for phone calls, texting and searching the internet. Calls are clear and it seems to get better signal than my previous galaxy s6. Texting is the same. I use voice to text and this version seems worse than the s6 but I still need to use it some to make sure. The speed is great but its new so we will see if it stands the test of time. Bixby in my opinion is a complete waste of time. Google already has an assistant and I would prefer my phone not be bogged down by duplicate versions of almost the same thing. The phone doesn't seem durable at all. I have a case and a screen protector on mine. Its almost like they are designed to break. The battery life is ok as it gets me though the day but I don't think it would if I watched videos. I am an android person and samsung s8 is currently the best android device. I wish they would step up their game and really design an amazing phone. Bottom Line. This phone isn't worth an early upgrade but its a great phone when you are ready to upgrade. Phones these days are kinda like new cars. They all look the same, perform the same and one doesn't stand out from the other.

Still Adjusting

I've only had the phone for a couple of weeks. So still getting used to the new features. Don't know for sure if I like or use the edge screen or folders. Still a lot of preloaded apps that I'll never use and can't take off. Disappointed I can't get a screen cover that will work with a case.

looks good but not so good

not very efficient phone for few reasons and here I'm comparing with S5 that I have 1. text message: a text comes in while you're on the phone, the text doesn't show message body that you can read while in the phone. S5 does. 2. Call logs: there is no call log feature for you to sort dial, missed, received, rejected calls. S5 does. 3. Samsung key: doesn't automatically pop up spelling between languages. I used 4 languages interchangeably when I text or email. S5 understands the language I'm using and pop up correct spelling. With S8, I have to move the space bar to pick the language if I want to type a word in that particular language. it takes longer for my text nowaday. Not fun. Very inconvenient and time consuming. 5. Calculator: too many keys and features that make the keys too busy. 6. Battery: short life. 5 hrs for constant talk and web surf. 7 hrs for doing nothing. I'm in finance, I used the phone dial logs, text and calculator a lot and I got frustrated. I remove the Sim card and put it back to my S5 :-)

Awesome, but..

So I got my s8 about a month ago and I loved it. Yeah, lovED. It was high quality but two problems, its fragile, and two the IP rating did nothing. I had everything sealed but it still took water damage under 2 feet in 30 seconds. Not kidding. I am really annoyed it broke but besides that it is amazing.

Frequent reboots and app crashes

Phone was great when I first got it. 3 weeks in and constant reboots 10-15 times per day. Booted into safe mode to make sure it wasn't a 3rd party app. Cleared cache, even did factory reset. Still have the same issue. Right before it reboots, random apps like Google play, Samsung touch wiz, etc... crash, phone freezes then reboots. Happens overnight while charging, even while sitting on my desk when not in use. Searched around and this is a common issue. Too bad because I really like the phone otherwise.

Samsung Galaxy S8

I have been an avid Samsung user; however, I am disappointed in the S8. I have had the phone less than 2 months and the signs of wear are unbelievable. I am not rough on my phones. In fact...I have never had a case on one and never have had any issues. The phone is scratched like I slide it across the table...let it ride in cup holders...etc. Very disappointing Samsung! If people are going to pay this much money...it should be able to withstand everyday use without looking like it has gone through a natural disaster.

New S8

Its good, but there are some things to not like. The Bixby button is in the way and Bixby doesn't work anyway. The finger print scanner is in an awkward location and so far I find the face recognition to be less than effective. What light you are in seems to make a big difference. I also hate that I hate that I must open an email to delete it, unlike my nexus 5x on which I could just swipe an email away without opening it.

Nice looking phone

I love my new S8. One thing I do not like is the sencitivity on the keyboard. I have to hit my letters harder and really watch the auto spell check. Getting used to the edge and still out on if I really like it better than the regular screen. Still a really nice phone.

Battery expaned 5 mos after warranty expired

Warranty is only for one year. 5 mos. after warranty expired, my phone ended up like many of them -- the battery expanded and the case is popping open. I have no recourse other than to trash the (expensive!) phone and buy a new one. For what it cost, it should last more than 1.5 years! This is the last Samsung product I will purchase.
