Works well so far, but the fan comes on too often!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] No installation required, runs right out of the box. Bucket fills well and auto-stops when full. Only one thing that bothers me is that the fan and compressor run almost continuously even when on non-continuous mode. Seems like a sensor issue, it seems to think that the preset humidity has been achieved, and the fan comes on earlier than it should. I saw some reviews about this issue being potentially due to the sensor being inside the bucket area, so it thinks the humidity is higher than it actually is. I hope this doesn't reduce the life of the unit, in any case, there is a 5 ur warranty should the compressor conk out. Only downside is increased utility costs.

a good investment

I feel that the Frigidaire Energy Star 50- pint dehumidifier is a good investment. For less than $200, you get an energy efficient machine that assures you that your basement will not get moldy or musty smelling because of excess humidity that is so common in basements. Your are protecting your home from mold and mildew. That particular model is excellent for small to medium sized homes like mine. It has a setting to assure you that you maintain the humidity level in your basement at the same point, and when that is exceeded, the machine comes back on. When you are at the humidity level that you have selected, the machine goes off, saving electricity. The water bin is easy to empty, and unless a person is very frail, wouldn't be hard to lift.

Frigidaire Dehumidifier

This is the 2nd dehumidifier I purchased from Walmart that I have in my basement. The first one is by GE and that has been running continuously for 9 years no problems. This Frigidaire model I think will be just as good. It was easy to set up and got my basement to a cool temperature in a few minutes. The first 2 days I did not have a garden hose for the water but the tank never reached full capacity, so that was a good thing. The hose is so much easier, no need to ever empty to tank.

Ease of operation

Ready to go right out of the box. The wheels and built in handle for the unit are well designed for facilitating moving it around the room. The built in handle on the water carafe make emptying it easy. Really pulls a lot of water out of the air in a short period.

Great product

It fills every day and my wife uses the water for her plants on the deck and porch! I do not understand why people are surprised it puts off heat. It is a refrigeration unit and has a hot and cold coil. It is basically a window unit sitting inside redesigned to remove moisture instead of cooling an area. Just use common sense and do not put it near your thermostat and keep the humidity level 55% or lower. This is due to the fact mold cannot grow unless it is 60% or above. Sometimes if the humidity is in the very low range, say 40%, you can dry out nasal passages and create sinus problems. Great unit and we are very pleased, hope the information above is of good use. Thanks

Great product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to use. Hooks up to a garden hose so you don't have to buy additional hoses. We used it to dry our home out after a devastating flood and it worked great. Within a few weeks we had moisture values back to building levels (we used three of them in a 2,000 square foot home).

Easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this for our damp basement and noticed a huge difference with this dehumidifier. The bucket fills up pretty quick so we have to empty it until we get the hose hook up direct to the drain. Easy to use!

Working good so far

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this dehumidifier about a month ago and so far it is doing a great job of keeping the humidity down in my basement. Unboxing and setting it up was super easy. Pretty much plug it in and it's ready to go. Having to empty the water reservoir every so often is kind of annoying, but it's not hard to do. I am going to look into running a line to a drain so I don't have to do that. But overall this dehumidifier gets the job done. I am satisfied with it so far.

Best Investment - Terrific Tool

A couple of months ago the dishwasher had a major failure which flooded the kitchen floor. Our only chance to dry out the kitchen was to purchase a dehumidifier. Lucky for us we selected the right one. This Frigidaire drew 4 gallons of water daily for 3 weeks. So easy to empty and clean the filter. All of the sub flooring dried thanks to the Frigidaire. Since then we moved it to the basement and it continues to draw 4 gallons every 24 hours. The air quality has improved 100%. Very reasonable price. Very quiet operation. Simple to use.

Very efficient dehumidifier

Noticed last year that the air felt "moldy" after several days of hard rain, so I purchased this to keep the humidity down in the house. We do not run it every day - only when we have several rainy days in a row and begin to feel a change in our air quality. It does what it is supposed to do -removes moisture from the air. It is a not a quiet machine, but its sound soon becomes background noise that can be ignored. I like the fact that I can wheel it to whatever part of the house it is needed.
