Failed

I applied the grub treatment in early May. I have noticed severe patches of dead grass. I originally assumed it was from lack of rain. I began watering religiously. The yard started to look really good with the exception of the same patchy dead spots. I decided to dig and found live grubs. Very frustrating!

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Grubex1 Season Long Grub Killer and appreciate your feedback. For best results, this product should be applied as a preventative in the spring or early summer (before the 4th of July) before damage is present; once damage is noticed, it is too late. GrubEx is not effective on mature grubs. This product must be immediately watered into the soil before it will be affective and must be applied to the entire lawn for complete control. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.

Works Great Except.

I do not have a large lawn in Noethwest Florida. I have a buffer area behind my home that is quite large. Have many critters that come from the preserve and armadillos. I have been dealing with armadillos for years. Decided to challange the armadillos head on. I put down the Grubex all over my entire yard. Including the bushes and areas that has a lot of pine bark. Watered in as directed. I now have little damage in the bush and grasssy areas. However, All the beds that have pine bark has become a buffet. I tried putting down more Grubex, in thae area, watered it in well and the armadilos have not stopped digging in that area at all. I went out this morning 5/18/24 and they dug up the entire area of that has the pine bark. I took photos but the ability to ad photos was not working.

Very good grub treatmet

With a lot of rain in N. Florida and seeing both Lawn Moths and morning damage to my St Augustine Grass, I knew I needed a surface and deep treatment product. The GrubEx1 really did the job. One application in early August has taken care of pretty much everything, although I have to consider that the heavy rains might have washed some of the product out. The price was great and it is a very good alternative to other products. Scotts quality is always top notch and it will work as advertised. Look for it at Home Depot or Lowes for the best price.

Grubs infested my yard after application

I put down several applications of grubex this year because I noticed I had more grubs than in the past. I followed the instructions for application. GrubEx unfortunately did nothing to kill them off. My lawn is infested with grubs and moles. Even though it is October, my lawn looks terrible.

We are sorry to hear of your experience with Scotts GrubEx1. This is a good product and is labeled for the control of grubs for approximately 4 months if applied at the appropriate time in your area. Timing is an important factor as mature grubs require a much larger amount of insecticide to control than grubs that are newly hatched. GrubEx1 is meant to control the younger newly hatched grubs thus preventing lawn damage. Therefore we recommend applying GrubEx1 from May through the end of June. If you apply it too early in the spring, the active ingredient will break down before prime grub hatching time. If you apply it when the grubs are too mature, the insecticide is not very effective. Once you are seeing lawn damage from grubs it is too late to apply GrubEx1 as the grubs are too large for it to be effective. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience please contact us to see what can be done. Rids Japanese Beetles

When we first moved to our property, the Japanese Beetles were terrible in mid-summer. They ate every nice planter/flower my wife would put on our deck. I began using Grub Ex yearly and the Beetles haven't been seen since, knock on wood. They're still in the area because I see full bags hanging in yards all summer but our yard has been spared. I can only attribute it to Grub Ex.

Big Joke

I bought 5 bags of this stuff and put it on even extra and made sure it was watered like directed. I now have more tunnels than I had before, not sure but must have fed the grubs instead of killing them. This was the biggest waste of time and money for something that was guaranteed.

It does exactly what you want to accomplish-eliminates grub worms

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had grubs for 3 years in n a row which almost killed most of my lawn. Since I have been applying Gurbex annually for several years there is no trace of grubs. My lawn is beautiful and the best in the neighborhood.

It works effectively

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've tried other brands that weren't as effective. Aside from the cost, if you want to eliminate grubs this product works quite well. We only received a sprinkling of rain during the following ten days after my application and I was concerned it wouldn't take effect. It was enough apparently since the grubs are gone (and beetles) and the crows no longer tear up my yard, either. Buy it.

Really disappointed on how muvh water is needed.

Bought this product today to treat grub worms in my yard. Had I realized that I needed 1 inch of water after applying to my lawn, I would have NEVER purchased the product. Does Scott's realize how much 1 inch of water is? Scott's, you really need to work on this..

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Grubex and appreciate your feedback. Product should be watered in within 24 hours. Ideally, instead of watering it in yourself, apply in mid-spring and allow the spring rains to water it in for you. If no rain, need to lightly water it in within 24 hours. To prevent run off, water with approximately ½ inch water (about 30 minutes with average sprinkler). Apply an additional ½ inch water about 2 days later. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.

Great stuff - lawn saver!

I live in a suburban/rural setting and, while many people think having wild turkeys around, it stinks because they tear my lawn to shreds! I found that they are really digging for grubs and Japanese beetles. That's where the Grubex comes in. Last year, I put Grubex down on 85% of my lawn (ran out before I finished). No turkeys on that 85%, but the other 15% took a beating! No more excuses this year. The entire lawn got a full cover. This product is a little pricey, but I don't have a lot of alternatives.
