Love the individual burner starter system & ease of contecting tank.

I've had it for 6 months. All my friends cook on it

Great grill

I've had this grill for more than 2 years and was coming here for a replacement part, so I thought I'd share my experience. I believe the "tru-infrared" is a bit misleading, but that doesn't take away from the positive aspects of this grill. The heat dispersing trough, is not really infrared, but it does help you cook more evenly and completely eliminates flare ups. You can get the temperature up over 600 and the flames get nowhere near the meat due to the heat shield. This does make it a little more difficult to get those artistic grill marks without overcooking the meat. We prefer our steaks rare/med rare, so we go without a perfect checker board pattern. No problem there, but I would prefer to get a bit of a char on my hamburgers which is not really possible. On the other hand, what I love about this grill is I am able to line the trough with mesquite, cherry or any other fragrant wood and I am able to get double use out of this grill as a smoker. I often slow smoke (6-12 hours) over indirect heat (ribs, butts and brisket) and couldn't be happier. This is why I am here to replace my trough, as I use this grill just about every weekend and I use the wood chips every time even when I cook hot dogs for the kids or fish. You have to leave the flames on high for a while in order to get the wet soaked wood to start smoking before you put you meat on the grill. If you don't want to buy a separate smoker this is a great multi-tasker. For me, the ability to smoke meat outweighs the need to char my burgers. Hope this helps!

I bought this grill in May 2013 and although I love the Infra Red cooking, I have had to replace the ignitor switch 3 times and it still doesn't work. The control panel gets so hot that it melts the knobs (on my third set) and now have to replace the hose/regulator. Hoping that solves the problem?! Also have surface rust on the "stainless steel" lid. This grill is not holding up well.

It performed poorly from day one and I returned it

As a former Weber owner, I make a point of reminding friends who own Weber's the price of this thing when they admit that the grilled stuff is better at our bbqs than theirs. There was a learning curve to not overcook, but now that I'm beyond that, I could not be more satisfied. I had an issue with an unlevel grate, but customer service took care of it right away; three new grates arrived within the week. And, with a cover, it seems to be weathering fine. I am quite impressed.

This model is my 3rd infrared grill from CharBroil I live in Kentucky and I cook year 'round. Rain, sleet, snow and single digit temps. I love to grill on my infrared grill. I'm currently in my 3rd year of using this grill. I have replaced the pan last year. It was still usable but I ordered a new one and put it to use last Fall. People complain about them rusting, they're steel and steel rusts. Even stainless steel will rust when extreme heat is applied to it. That's why the burners do eventually rust. I am on the site today checking out the current model grills, the search for my 4th has begun.

This grill is a great design but being discontinued. I had a early version of this grill that lasted from 2009-2016. Firebox rusted out that support burners. If fire box was made was stainless steel would still be working. The new grill however has stainless steel burners and brackets a screws. This design is far superior to first generation of Tru-Infrared. p.S. Keep grill covered.
