I have used TurboTax for years. Today is the extention deadline, 10/15/18, and all information I have found says that e-file works through today. After dozens of tries (over an hour's time) I cannot pay to file our State with a credit card, as the "continue" button pales, and does not allow it to go forward. However, not surprisingly, the choice to pay the extra $39.99 out of our refund has no problem processing. I wanted to at least file the Federal return portion for free, as it is part of what I originally purchased, but the program will not allow me to drop the Tax Defense choice, even though the credit card option won't work. I have logged out, rebooted, and tried every other re-set strategy. This is unfair, as I will need to paper-file (unless I want to pay the exorbitant $39.99 to pay with our refund).

I've used the product for decades, and grown accustomed to it. However, there are a couple of issues: -- There are no hints on whether you should fill out a section prior to doing it. For instance, on medical deductions, it should tell you the amount you'll need to even use the deduction prior to starting. -- Limited partnerships are not handled well. Following on-line advice, I had to delete some numbers to get it to work. This is a severe flaw that kept me confused for hours.

I like that this gives me the option to walk through everything step by step, or pick and choose what I want to work on. It is easy to understand in general. But I wish it would carry over my bank account routing and account number year to year. Or at least carry forward from federal to state!!! If the routing/account worked last year, then I don't want to risk transposing it by typing it again this year.

- For end of tax year estimates: I can't override 1040 or other forms without going thru other forms first; I would like an override so I can do quick estimates for various situations. - Add form 2210 and schedule A1. TT throws me and older folks into these forms when we make estimated tax payments to cover IRA withdrawals when withholding is not taken out because we withdraw stock not cash. - Give me an option to see forms/schedules (like 1040) without the worksheets.

Every year I have tried to have this product e-file my taxes like it used to. However ever since I have been receiving a pension form overseas I have had to generate a substitute 1099-R (4852) because it keeps requiring me to enter an EIN even though I do not have one as it is an overseas company, and yes I have tried leaving it blank or entering all zero's.

The main TurboTax Window was missing the top and bottom line. I tried checking re Privacy and browser settings, Preferences on Mac... many things could not change this. Also, help agent had problems, first time ever, after more than a decade of using TurboTax, being able to log into my computer and see my issues. I'll again next year after I've upgraded my operating system and see if I have that problem again. I hope not!

Years ago TT was a nightmare to use with numerous problems that just caused days of work to resolve. After getting better we are back to a version with numerous bugs. It is hard to understand how Intuit could release a program with so many issues. It only hours to resolve most of the problems, not days, so that's a plus I guess.

Step-by-step guidance is easy to use and makes sure you don't overlook anything. Premier edition is expensive but required for investment income. In my opinion, it's too expensive since I only had one capital gain to report. Lots of extra money for one piece of information.

Even though annual data value for w/h on pension was entered on data form from 1099R, this info was omitted from the appropriate line on 1040. This was not noticed in review before submittal and necessitates filing an amended return. Instructions for this are not clear or easy to perform. A walk through may be needed to achieve this.

I am a retired CPA and have done taxes with a variety of soft wares over 40 years. The latest being UltraTax and Taxslayer. However never used Turbo Tax. Had trouble retrieving in process files that were "saved". They disappeared from the opening screen and I had to renter my own and neighbors data. Also saving as "Word" and opening as PDF was a bit clunky. I gave you 4 out of 5 stars because of the file saving issues.
