The Turbotax Premier software continues to very well meet my needs. The software has done a better job in some previous years of "hand holding", explaining the implication of certain inputs, letting me "find" stuff I'm looking for outside to step-by-step path (when input info was late coming). I still think it's amazing Intuit can update it every year to help guide me as well as it does, and I can't imagine trying to file without it.

We deduct mileage to support trips to manage real estate that we operate as an LLC. This year we sold two cars and bought one. We have used all 3 cars for personal and business use - about 2/3 personal and 1/3 business. Turbo Tax automatically started 1031 exchanges for both sales, and appeared to enter data into the forms incorrectly. We deleted both.

In state tax deductions, many things were bought in different areas with different tax rates. This was not easy to resolve and I am still not positive I have answered correctly. No easy way to get help from TurboTax on these type of questions. Could not find phone number to call, which I assume was on purpose.

Everything went well - easy to follow and double check. I would give it a 98 score. I had trouble in the foreign tax section and needed to find a work around directly on the forms. The directions in Turbo Tax were unclear. Also, for Misc Deductions, it would be nice if I could make corrections directly on the forms. I couldn't remove an item - I didn't know where it came from - and all I could do was go along with the form. It was a very minor amount, so there was no impact to the tax refund I'm going to get. But overall, this is a really great product and tool. I've been using it for nearly a decade, and I plan to continue using it.

Fed portion is great, but State portion needs work: > Does not carry over capital gains over from fed to state correctly. > Whole sections of state calculation worksheets need to be entered manually > State rejected form twice, and T.Tax program suggested no fixes. > Can not pick and choose State sections to work on. Each time you must walk through the entire form from start to finish.

I will never use the e-filing for the state again. I've used Turbo Tax for over 15 years. Signing up to e-file the state was a nightmare. Evidently I didn't have an account with Intuit before. It rejected at least 6 passwords. The whole process was so time consuming that I wished I had gone to the post office.

I've been using this program for the past 8 years to file my taxes. It makes it so easy and quick. I will be using it again for next years taxes. A couple of disappointing items are that I could not really see what each item was on the final return. For example, it said I had a capital gain but I was not able to go back and verify where it was from. I would have liked to be able to click on the final return and verify where the information came from. The other item was I got the Premier version instead of the deluxe version. I thought the premier version would give me additional information but it did not. It had an advice portion at the end that seemed very basic and not really useful. I'll just be getting the deluxe version next year.

Lets face it, if you do your own taxes there's nothing better than Turbo Tax. I used CPAs for years, and I never felt I was getting a complete picture. With Turbo Tax everything is there in front of you, every expense, every deductible, every opportunity to make sure you do your taxes correctly and have piece of mind. On top of it, the software is flawless.

I am not really an expert in taxes, but I have been using TT for over 10 years. I only tried a competitors once, and have stuck with TT since then. A couple of comments: - The interface can be enhanced for experienced users. For example, I click 100 times that I know what I want to work on... very annoying... - There is no way to save the Software updates. I save the CDs for future use, just in case. But, I have to trust that TT will keep providing the updates over the air. - I had one year missing for example, and there was no easy way to get a copy of the old software. Thanks!

Overall an excellent program. I've been doing my own taxes for years, but this year I lost parents and gained a portion of their IRA (Beneficial IRA) and house sale. The K-1 (1041), the stepped up basis (appraisal of house at death vs house sale day great than 1 year to warrant the long term cap. gains at 15%) to compute the capital gains and determining whether it was a short term or long term sales , wasn't clear in the program, you have to dig into the Qual. Div and Cap gain tax worksheet and Sch D to see how things settle- not clear whether a short term or long term cap gains computation took place on forms.
