A pleasure as always!

I've been filing with TurboTax for more years than I can remember. It's always been super easy to use, explained everything clearly, and helped me minimize my tax burden. When you add in the ability to subscribe to the audit defense network, and e-file everything, it's all I could ever need in a tax preparation package.

difficult to use

I have several rentals and having to open a new file for income, expenses, etc got confusing. It would be nice to start and finish one property at a time. Also I had an amount on a 1099 misc in box 3 and the system wouldn't let me complete the form. When I went back in the system marked it as a different property. When a box is marked, it shouldn't change on it's own. This is the first time I have used the premier edition and I got so frustrated I called on a friend that does tax prep work and she was also frustrated. I am finally done and now it won't print my doc. I get either the forms with no amounts or just Turbo Tax icon on a page. UGH!

Awesome Turbotax

This is the first time for me to apply my tax return this year. At the beginning I doubted I could do it by myself. However, Turbotax guides me to process my tax step by step . Finally I got it done successfully. It seems quite easy not as hard as I supposed . Awesome Turbotax! I really appreciate it very much!

Living outside of the USA -Best app to file return

I have been using TurboTax Premier for more than six years to file our tax returns. It covers most of the scenarios a US Person living outside of the US would encounter. In our case I did not require any outside help to prepare the returns. I can't imagine filing our return without using TruboTax. I purchased digital copy of TurboTax which made installation a breeze.

Don't Screw up, Use Turbotax and Do It Right

First, this is my 20th year using Turbotax - or more? I'm an early adopter. I'm not a preparer, but I've learned how to manage my tax consequences and accurately report by using a little professional help and Turbotax. On vacation one year, I met one of the Intuit VP's, very nice fellow, and we talked about how the program has evolved over time. Seriously - THIS is how we should all be doing our taxes. I am very pleased to review, do a pre-audit, ask the tough question, "Is taking that deduction really worth the likelihood of an audit", without actually having to keep going in to the accountant's office to ask my questions. I am exceptionally happy with TT, it just gets easier and better over time, and it is adaptable to my changing circumstances.

another year of unnecessary complexity

Have been using TurboTax for several years now. On the whole it's a decent tax filing program, especially considering there is rental income stock and bond in interest income, charitable giving, work-related expenses. One difficulty with the program, when there is a file (TXF file )that is downloaded from a brokerage house, that does not include the name of the issuing company it is difficult to get TurboTax to enter the missing piece of information. If I hadn't run into it last year I would've been clueless again on how to add the name of the company.

Not too happy

After years of use, I'm increasingly dissatisfied with the cost to buy and to file. Sadly forced I to look at other tax prep alternatives before I sign on to TurboTax again. And that's sad. Ease of use is also not moving forward, repeatedly having to click through details of already completed sections just to review one aspect of the section. Still lots to like, but the aggravation level seems to be rising. And where's the quick look at the 2018 taxes. I've done a bunch of forecasting and planning myself. Can't intuit rough up something informal to shed some light on the topic. (Or does it come up after this review tab?)

I've been using TT for years. This year was problematic because of two dependents in college with 529s and scholarships and also because the IRS sent me a letter asking for back taxes from 2016 related to these issues. I understand from TT community that TT deliberately neglected this area as it affects fewer users. It will affect one fewer next year.

Not as Good as in the Past

Actually completing my taxes went pretty smoothly. But working with the program was a nightmare. Three big complaints: (1) It seemed that every update had to be downloaded about 3 times before the program would actually update. No explanations and lots of time waiting for the downloads to complete. (2) it is impossible to figure out how some of the calculated figures are derived, especially on state returns. (3) the program lets you enter more text in some fields than it will later accept, and forces you to go back and fix these. Why not limit text entry explicitly on the front end?
