I feel that it was as thorough as a tax advisor, although there were some assumptions made with the AMT questions. I like to prepare my taxes since I am ultimately responsible for them, but can't afford hours and hours of calculations and switching back and forth from worksheet to worksheet and from form to form. TurboTax was a perfect combination of speed and thoroughness.

This is the most trouble that I have had with Turbotax. First it took forever to load from DVD. Then it took forever to accept that I wanted to file and create an account later. I had to save my return 5 times before I was allowed to input my credit card information. This may be my last year purchasing the product.

There are several places within this software that you are asked to input information with little or no guidance. I had to download the IRS instructions for several forms and search through them to figure out what I needed to do. How difficult would it be for turbotax to include these instructions for at least the questions they don't give guidance on so I don't have to go through this extra effort. Additionally, I entered information about my quarterly income, taxes, etc. and TurboTax doesn't use it to calculate my quarterly AMT or NIIT! Why not? I had to create a 300+ line spreadsheet and pull all of the numbers off of several forms (1040, 6251, Schedule D tax, etc. etc.) to calculate this myself so that I could pay the appropriate penalties and interest. The whole reason I PAY for TurboTax is so I don't have to do this. After using H&R Block's software for years I decided to switch last year and haven't found Turbo Tax to be any easier.

all went well except they rejected it for the AGI didn't match up. I gave them the 2016 but it didn't satisfy them. I requested a copy of last years return (though I had my hard copy) and they could not match my mobile phone so they are mailing me a authorize code via post office. I will be late for getting my new return in unless I get the authorizing code to get there copy of what I did last year to see if it is different. I hope I don't get a late penalty.

It's a good program which I have used for years. However there is still too much obscure (to non-specialists) financial vocabulary used. There are some popups with explanations, but not enough. Often I have no idea how to answer a question so I just guess.

I am using the premier version, specifically designed for Rental Properties. One of my properties is in Canada. I wish Turbo Tax gave more explanations how to fill form 1116 (Foreign Tax Credit) specifically for such situation. I had to go to the IRS website and a blog to figure it out.

I like turbo tax for helping me with Rentals. I can do "What If's" when I want to check out effects of different buy/sell options for example. I wish the program would allow you to enter car data once and have that data go to each rental for tracking purposes instead of entering the same info in multiple places

I finish and filed very early, but arranged the payment due from my bank account before the due date. Now I can't remember the date I made that arrangement or whether that arrangement was even done correctly. There is no record that I search in Turbo tax. I can only hope that by April 17, my bank record will show it. If mistakes were made, I can't make it up on due date.

Obviously the tax laws have become more complicated but TurboTax seems to have made the best of it. I am disappointed that they abandoned their previous simple print/review routines for one that is at best terrible and hard to use. BAD MOVE in an otherwise easy to use program.

Everything was faster and easier this year filling my 2017 Tax Returns. The only issue was that the Premier version of the software (which I used) did not ask me about rental properties, so I had to manually go back and launch that section. This year's version also did not distinguish between church donations, and other charitable donations, so that threw me for a loop. But still, this year, I completed my tax return in the least amount of time yet.
