No Prompt For Social Security???!!!

I have used Turbotax for years, yet this year it did not prompt me for information with regards to my Social Security Income! As I have had it for over 5 years, one would think it would ask for that Turbotax would carry over that face and add to the questions?

Great product, just one thing...

Overall I was very satisfied. However, I had to file the AMT this year, and the instructions and "Learn more" links were far fewer than throughout the regular return. The AMT was new to me and very confusing to begin with and it would be nice if the step by step instructions were more explicit, with additional information available. I felt like I was not sure about many of my answers in this section, and there was no way to get instructions.

TurboTax Premier Desktop for Mac

I have been using TurboTax for the Mac since it used to be MacInTax. There used to be a feature that allowed you to select any field that had an imported or calculated value and identify the data sources of that field. This was removed a number of years ago in the Mac version, but it remains in the Windows version. It makes troubleshooting problems very difficult, even for Intuit's own support people, including CPAs. I am also not happy that Intuit is only supporting the most recent version of the Mac operating systems. Come on Intuit, this is not rocket science, you can do better than this.

Still Needs More Work

I've used TurboTax every year since they bought our Parson's Technology. I'm very familiar with using the product but continue to be surprised that there are places in the interview, every year, where the explanation makes no more sense in TurboTax than on the IRS website. I really expect TurboTax to clearly explain every term and entry in layman's language. That said, I still found TurboTax pretty easy to use and mostly straightforward. I expect to use it again next year too.

Disappointed

Interview process remains helpful and as quick as one can expect when dealing with the tax code. Information links are less helpful than in the past. Two things were especially frustrating. First, after updating itself, TurboTax would not restart, demanded a reload, and would not uninstall. There was no tech support and no response to my input of problem. I was only able to finish by loading TurboTax onto another computer. Second, TurboTax insisted on triple counting personal property tax I paid on my car, once for each rental property for which I used the car, on Schedule E, and once as a personal deduction on Schedule A. When I overroad the double counting on Schedule E, TurboTax would not e-file, even as it insisted my state requires me to e-file. A major annoyance that makes my return a work of fiction.

Best Refund, a-gain!

As usual, Turbotax has provided a great product that makes doing taxes easy. My wife retired this year and I was truly worried about all of the disbursements and where they should be entered. Turbotax made the whole process easy and not so scary for a non-CPA to accomplish!

Once again very helpful

I have been using Turbo Tax for many, many years. It seems to have gotten better and easier to follow each year. I really appreciate the way each amount I enter goes not only to the form I am currently working on, but also to any other form where it needs to go.

problems identifying error

When trying to finalize and e-file, the program indicated an error -- that we still needed to input interest income, but it did not direct us to the location where we needed to provide this information. I went back to the interest income (1099-INT) pages and re-entered the information but still got the error. Frustrating that the program is not telling us specifically where this information should be entered so we can correct this error.

most problematic version turbotax i have ever used ihave used for about 10 yrs. i lived thru the basic vs permium turmoil a few yrs ago with the unannounced need to upgrade to premium if stocks involved the 2017 version is clogged with stonewalls to overcome in order to efile..most of the customers who buy turbotax i suspect are not CPA,s and i doubt that i am alone in complete disgust with the stress and tension trying to maneuver to the file now tab i likely will switch to tax cut next year

Problem with spouses in different states

I have used TT for years and am generally pleased with it. However, my husband and I separated and this last year lived in different states. TT could not deal with this situation, although it cannot be that rare. At least they explained a workaround, which is cumbersome.
