The program does not handle foreign tax payments to multiple countries for completion of Form 1116. This requires extensive time and effort to work around and trick the system into preparing the necessary forms. The programs should be updated to allow a drop down within the 1099 section to enter multiple countries income and taxes.

Premier Version is Worth it

When answering college expense deduction questions it can be confusing because sometimes it asks about expenses paid by your child/student, when what it really means is expenses paid by you (the parent). With the Premier version I was able to talk to a EA/CPA and get that sorted out. Last year I had the Deluxe version and ended up having to go to a local CPA because it was showing my incomeless daughter needed to pay thousands in taxes. The best solution would be for TT to clarify the questions and provide more extensive instructions and tips within the education-related questions. Otherwise, and overall, this is a great piece of software and value when coupled with the EA/CPA access.

Great - But One Step Backwards

I'm a long time Turbo Tax user and use it to file my entire family's taxes. However, your new change of having to re-input the same routing and account numbers multiple times is a real step backwards. The best part about Turbo Tax is that it pulls last year's data and loads it into the current year - why did you undo this great feature?

Turbotax details

Turbotax is easy to use. It's intuitive and it's easy to go back and make changes as necessary. I especially like the review process that double checks for potential problems. One thing I'd like to see improved is obscure things ike where to file for timber sales and things like that. If you're not willing to be persistent you might not find what you're looking for.

State Returns

Suggest you change the state return policy to include free electronic submission and/or a payment for electronic submission that covers multiple returns. I have children that work so they file tax returns. Their returns are very simple. I am able to file federal returns electronically for free for all of us. For State, you want to charge a fee for each state return submitted. I paid for the electronic filing of my state return and submitted my return electronically. I print and mail my children's returns because of the submission fee, so you get no revenue and you cause me more work and time.

2017 Amended Tax Return Failure

The TurboTax Amended Federal Tax Form 1040X did not calculate the correct tax due. The error appeared to be caused by a failure to retrieve the correct information from the original 2017 tax return. In addition to the error the Amended return failed to generate a 2017 Form 1040-V Payment Voucher. After much independant study I was able to calculate the correct tax due using the QDCGTW and then I was able to go into the forms section of the Amended Return and input the correct information into lines 1-30 of the 1040X (all manual operation). This appears to allow me to print and save a PDF of the Amended return. However, It still does not display or print a Form 1040-V Payment Voucher. I had to go to the IRS website to get the 1040-V form to fill out and mail (again all manual operation). This is a major disappointment as historically Turbo Tax has worked well for standard original tax returns. This was my first amended return using Turbo Tax and I am not satisfied with the results.

needs improvement

This is a good product that could be made better. There needs to be a separate worksheet to enter 1099-s. The current format is confusing. It would be helpful if the related forms for entries were always available. Totals for each income and expense sections would be helpful. Signing in was not easy.

Unforseen costs

I have used TT for the last 10 years. This will be my last year. The random and constant upgrade costs as compared to previous years makes the product very expensive, difficult to use, and frustrating when being constantly asked to pay excessive charges that were unforeseen (not explained up front) . DUMB!!!

Great Program but ...

I have used TurboTax for about 40 years. I love it. This is the first year that I had a glitch appear. The program never asked me about the form 592-B. I almost paid CA $177 instead of receiving a $588 refund. If I had not went through the actual pages of the tax forms, I would not have noticed that an error was in the return.

worksheets

would be nice to see a line by line worksheet where data came from for accumulated entries. ie: Qualified Dividends total in AMT form. I can manually add the amounts from 1099s or other forms but would be nice to see them in a line by line form for verification.
