All you have to do is tell the consumer what will happen based on which path they follow, e.g., if you do this, then your tax will go up/down. Improve backward navigation, so I don't have to go through each screen, i.e., show me what I have entered and take me directly to that page with just one click. Be more informative about home offices. I ran past the deadline for filing because I saw the deduction analysis and thought I should delete the home office only to find my tax went up. I then had to re-enter everything for the home office. BTW, what happens when I sell my home? Is there a tax effect because I took the deductions for a home office? TurboTax needs to focus on the presentation of entered data as well as in-stream guidance.

I have been using TurboTax Premier for more than six years to file our tax returns. It covers most of the scenarios a US Person living outside of the US would encounter. In our case I did not require any outside help to prepare the returns. I can't imagine filing our return without using TruboTax. I purchased digital copy of TurboTax which made installation a breeze.

Lets face it, if you do your own taxes there's nothing better than Turbo Tax. I used CPAs for years, and I never felt I was getting a complete picture. With Turbo Tax everything is there in front of you, every expense, every deductible, every opportunity to make sure you do your taxes correctly and have piece of mind. On top of it, the software is flawless.

You'll enter a Intuit Code sent to your phone when you file. Entered the number and continued to get an "Invalid" Code message even though it matched exactly to code sent. Exited out of that step and went back to it getting a new code. This time the code worked. Completed the Review and told my nickname was already selected by another reviewer. 1. I did not understand how to pull data off of last years return.. It is on this computer and I just didn't get it. 2. I was not able to save and then come back to where I left off. Some is probably "operator error" but I never had these issues before and I have used TT for as long as you have made it.

I have been using Turbo Tax for many, many years. It seems to have gotten better and easier to follow each year. I really appreciate the way each amount I enter goes not only to the form I am currently working on, but also to any other form where it needs to go.

I could not submit my return after finishing it. Turbotax said I needed to update the Turbotax software. I had done that earlier but couldn't send my return. I tried three times and I couldn't send my return. Then I closed Turbotax and then finally I could send my taxes in. I have updated my Safari at a higher level than needed but still Turbotax said that I should update my Safari.

On issue that should be very easy to fix but i have yet to find an answer is if you are mailing your federal return in and are getting a refund, there are no filing instructions - you need to search the internet to find the address. This should be something very basic with the software. I prepare my parent's return and i need to write the filing instructions myself - how much they are getting back, where to file, etc.

I'm normally a big fan and have been since 2003. This year, not sooo much. The section around carryovers is clunky and has a strange circular logic that gets you nowhere. I finally went in and just deleted certain deductions so I could finish the darn thing and be done with it. If certain deductions raise the AMT flag then it would be great for you to simply call it out or tell us why CA handles carryovers differently and despite inputting same numbers as on Fed I'm being asked to edit my numbers. I had to search online before I figured out it may have to do with certain deductions I had but no supporting proof. After deleting those I made it through the state fine as usual. First time EVER i had to wonder what in the world TurboTax was doing lol.

The step by step version does not allow for what is a standard mortgage scenario. It needs to be changed to allow for the situation where the mortgage interest is NOT seller financed AND NOT reported on a 1098. The value needs to go into BOX 11 and not BOX 10. Not all mortgages that don't report on a 1098 are seller financed, and in the IRS Publication 936, it states "IF", implying that not all scenarios are seller-financed. I spent hours and had to pay for need-less upgrades just to make this correct on my tax forms. Very Frustrating.
