Reduced gas mileage

I am a longtime user of Michilin and I really like and trust their tires. BUT, after running up 7000 miles on the Defenders I am disappointed in the gas mileage. I have experienced a 9% decrease in mileage over the last 3000 miles. I still like the tires but their info on mileage doesn't ring true.

Thank you for providing your feedback in regard to your experience with Michelin Defender tires. New tires having full tread depth will have more grip and rolling resistance in comparison to worn tires. As the new tires wear, the rolling resistance decreases. Over the life of the tires, all things being equal, the fuel efficiency should improve.

Michelin Tires can't be beat!

We have been using Michelin tires for many many years now. I would say about 30 years. Right now we have Defenders which we purchased about November, 2012. We have them rotated periodically and they are wearing very nicely in addition to a very smooth ride. Several years ago, we purchased another brand of tires after using Michelins for a few years and were very unsatisfied. We ended up returning the other tires and purchasing Michelins. I believe we will never again purchase another brand of tires. Michelin is ranked #1 in our book!

Defenders for my Sienna and Corolla

In the last couple of months I replaced tires on both our 2005 Sienna and 1999 Corolla with defenders. So far, they seem to be doing a good job. In the NorthEast, we already hit many bad weather days and I had no issues or complaints so far. However, MPG went down by 4 miles in our Sienna. Time will tell how well they do in their second to fourth years.

Best all season tires I have ever owned

I have driven 25,000 on the product with my car. My 2nd season of winter driving in all types of snow conditions, never got stuck once. Best rain tire I ever had, never feel any hydro plaining, on the expressway, local and city streets. The fastest braking tire, on snow and rain. Durability, ran over a bolt, drove home had the tire fixed the next day, the tire never went flat. I really don't have anything negative about the tire, I still get up to 50mpg in the summer and 42mpg in the dead of winter, which prove they are really a low roll resistant tire. Quietest tire i.e..road noise I have ever owned.

Very pleased with Defenders

Except for the price, I'm very happy with the four Defenders I put on my Buick Rendezvous. Very little road noise combined with the secure performance gives my confidence behind the wheel. Although I've only had the Defenders for two months, they have so far handled 6 inch snow and heavy rain without a skip or a skid.

Michelin Defender

It has been 6 months since I put these tires on my car and they have handled well in rain and wet roads. I drove 70 miles a day on these tires and have had no problems. They are a major improvement over the tires put on this vehicle when made. They lasted less than 2 years. Love the Michelins.

The new Defender

This is my first set of the Michelin Defender. So far I am very impressed with them. I have Michelin tires on all of my vehicles and for the safety of always haveing a high rated tires on my vehicles it is worth the slightly higher price. I have bought around 40 sets of Michelin tires and if you figure the price per mile, they are very cost wise.I normally get 60,000 to 70,000 miles on Michelin tires. I just hope these last as long as the Hydroedge tires did.

Simply THE BEST

Michelin simply makes the BEST tire you can buy. I have a set of Harmony tires on a VW with over 50,000 miles of trouble free driving. Even the tire store is amazed that they still have 50% of life left when they balance and rotate the tires. The DEFENDER is a terrifc solid ride on our Honda CRV. With a 90,000 mile warranty, I expect these to be equally as good as the Harmony. Michelin tires will continue to be my family's choice of tire.

Smaller tires not as much improvement

Few years ago, I replaced the tires on my old SUV and it felt like I was driving a new vehicle. My gas mileage improved slightly and the ride was awesome. So, I had high expectations when I purchased these little tires for a used car that I bought. I have owned the car for 2 months and was getting great gas mileage but there were 2 different sizes of tires (195/60R15 and 195/65R15) and neither were the recommended size. The car ride was loud and rough. I purchased the recommended size (185/60R15) and the ride and noise seemed only slightly improved but the gas mileage has been worse. I did ensure that the odometer worked correctly before and after the new tires. I wish that I had stayed with the larger size (195/60) or wish that I could change these 185's to 195's. They are good tires but not at all what I had expected because of my previous experience. I highly recommend Michelin's for old trucks and SUV's but can't say that I do for small cars. Maybe it's not fair to compare 195/60 to a 185/60? Still a Michelin fan and probably always will be.

Disappointing Treadwear and Warantee

I bought 4 Michelin Defender tires at a much greater cost than I would have based on a 90,000 mile warrantee. However, after only 35,000 miles on the car I need new tires. The tire dealer states they will not replace the tires and suggested that I contact Michelin. My vehicle have a fairly new vehicle (2012 Honda Civic) when I purchased these tires that has never been in an accident and I rotated the tires every few thousand miles when I change my oil. I am a car maintenance freak, so when I change my oil, I rotate my tires!!!! My recommendation: Do not buy these tires if you think they are going to last. You will spend 3 to 400.00 more $$$.
