The battery life is huge

I bought my forerunner second hand and it is just unbeatable. Charging is merely optional every two to three weeks maybe. I’ve hit it on several metal surfaces with enough force to accidentally break it and it doesn’t have a scratch besides the one that was there when I got it. Honestly makes me scared at what put that scratch there. I work in a manufacturing facility with pots of molten metal around and this thing doesn’t complain about the heat. I love it never switching to anything else.

I use this watch daily and record my workouts on it. Most of the time I really like it. My only complaints are that the sounds + vibrations that this watch makes are very loud and it's annoying. I don't know how to change this in settings. I've also had issues with the emergency alert. It seems like the watch alerts when there's a sudden stop, not a fall. When I fell and broke my arm trail running a few months ago, my watch didn't send an alert, but when I was cutting down a small tree with a hand saw, after I stopped, the watch alerted for an incident. Other than these things, I like this watch and would recommend.

Great for marathon training

I bought this about a month ago. I've been using it for all my training runs for the Chicago Marathon. It allows me to track everything and posts immediately to Strava once I linked it. Overall would recommend especially as an inexpensive entry level running watch.

Forerunner 55

I bought this product a few months ago to use for marathon running and interval training. I am happy with the product, but I will tell you it takes awhile to get used to. The interval option takes a few steps to get to for programming. It frequently continues the "discarding" circuit until the watch is actually shut off and restarted. The charge easily lasts for 72 hours. Overall, well worth it.

Constant need for pairing

I bought a Forerunner 55 to replace a 35 that I had for seven years. My 35 stopped reading my heart rate, measured distance incorrectly and the light quit. It had served me well so I bought what I thought would be it's replacement. The 55 I received would not stay paired with the Garmin app. I needed to pair every time I used the app to sync. It also took minutes to acquire the starting location. I called support and got a replacement. The replacement does the same thing. My 35 would go months without needing to be paired. It would also acquire the starting location in seconds not minutes. The 55 is unnecessarily complicated and the instructions for pairing are wrong. Also when pairing the app has me register the watch again.

Really basic

I have from a month ago, but I can observe its kind of fragil, small size, not so many futures. It doesnt read the sleeping time. At the very end it is a really basic garmin watch. If there is a possibility to get a better garmin watch, I would suggest to go for it. The good about it is the weight of the watch. It is very light.

Overall great running watch with upgraded features

I upgraded from the Forerunner 35 to the 55. The GPS engages faster, which I really like. It also appears to be more accurate. I really like the Body Battery function (which wasn't on the 35). It uses HRV (heart rate variability), a more accurate measure to determine when or how long you need to recover from an activity. A few things I'm still getting used to--how many buttons are needed to push to get to various functions. It is more complicated than the 35, but that could be because I'm still learning how to use it. I'm also getting used to notifications not popping up instantly, but doing a step before I can see emails etc. Overall, it is a great watch and good value for the $.

Pretty good so far

I have loved Garmin for years! I've had forerunners since the 15. With each one there has been updates and changes. The 55 is no different. I went with the aqua since it's my favorite color! I feel like it fits better on my arm with the removable bands instead of the slightly curved band of my 45. It does everything I need, tracking steps, heartrate, and everything else. I love the breath work option, and stair step option. I'm working on getting a better fitness age and volmax. It seems on this one though that the buttons have a more springy feel to them, but works good. Customer service at garmin is always accommodating and helpful.

band keeper should have knobs on both sides

I just like to point out that the band keeper has this knob to keep the excess band from flapping. I wish the next product improvement would consider adding 2 knobs to hold the band even more. I have small wrist and the band still flaps. Thank you Garmin.

Forerunner 55 Runner's Watch

I've purchased and received my new Garmin Forerunner 55 Runner's Watch about three or so weeks ago. I've used it in training runs several times since then. On the most part I like the watch. But, I just wish the fonts on various settings could be adjusted to be larger to read. The font size as on the default setting are a bit too small, and are particularly difficult to see at twilight, and/or after darkness sets in for the day. I had a Garmin Forerunner 15 for a number of years prior to the non-replacable battery dying out permanently. I loved the Garmin 15. And, I am still getting used to all of the additional bells and whistles on my new Garmin Forerunner 55. My only complaint at this point is that the font size on the words on the various settings need to somehow have a way to adjust to be larger. However, all-in-all, I am getting more accustomed to the watch each time I use it, and I'm glad I've purchased it. Garmin has some great products.
