Love this watch! battery life is great lasts me about 2 weeks depending on how many runs I track. It tracks the basic information I'm looking at as a new runner and also makes it easier for me to pace and train. I would absolutely recommend this watch to any new runners out there taking the next steps to improving your pace and distance. I also like that Garmin links with the Nike Run app and Strava.

Overall Excellent

I have been using this for almost 3 weeks. I enjoy almost every aspect of the watch. I really like the sleep tracking feature. It's so cool to know how REM or deep sleeve or light sweep or how many times I woke up. I think everything's pretty accurate, The more I use it the better it becomes.

Good watch

4.5 stars. The GPS works well most of the time, and there have only been a few times that it has taken more than a minute to get GPS, and that was when I was moving and in an area with lots of trees. It has lots of different options for watch faces and you can choose which data it displays while you are running. It’s also cool that it has heart rate and when you finish a run you can look at all sorts of data like elevation profile and even overlay two graphs, like speed and elevation. It also has the PacePro which allows you to add a route and then make a plan for how fast you want to run each part of it. The battery lasts about 4-7 days, depending on how long you use GPS. Overall it’s a good watch that I would definitely recommend for both beginner and intermediate runners.

not easy to use

I bought the watch 2 weeks ago and I am still struggling to learn how to use it. The watch controls and options are not easy or intuitive to use. the downloaded manual isn't that helpful. Maybe all Garmins are like this now. My old Forerunner was so easy to use. I want distance, pace, time, and HR one one screen, seems impossible. Also some things are hard to read being so small

Not ready, out of the box.

I wanted a running watch that displays distance run, pace, and time running. What I got was a watch that has a TIMER, as the main part of the display. I wanted to save my run, and there are several choices. It should vibrate when it completes the lap. Very weak. Last week I ran 14 miles. Mile 6 was 2 minutes for .2 mile. I don’t know what happened to the rest of that lap. Apple Watch was the backup and recorder 14 minutes for that mile. That has never happened before with a Garmin watch. I have to download the manual and see if I can get the watch to display the proper data. I shouldn’t need to do it. If I was running on a track I might use a timer but not for running on the road.

Great simple watch for any active person

I love my watch!! It does everything I need it to do and was a great price. I use the find my phone feature every week (Very helpful). When I don’t know what type of workout to do the Garmin coach normally gives a good suggestion. This is great for someone who is getting into running or the active watch “lifestyle” (simple and easy to use).

Frustrating

It is probably because I am too old but found that trying to understand its functions impossible. The instruction book was no help. I had to ask other people to help me, and I now can finally use it at its most basic function. I have the app on my phone but have not as yet tried to tackle that. It seems to function well but honestly; I wished i went with something simpler for a fitness watch. I am 67 years old, and I am training to run 5k races for the first time in my life. My trainer suggested your watch and i went with her advice. I wished i didn't, though maybe all fitness watched are this complicated.

Hope this one lasts longer than 22 months!

My Forefunner 45 lasted only 22 months and I was offered a 20% discount for the Forerunner 55. Before the 45 I had the 35 and that one lasted over 5 years which I was pleased with. I wish Garmin would have offered a greater discount for the 55. Anyway, my only complaint is that my iPhone will only stay connected to the 55 when I have the Connect App open in the background. I never had this problem with the previous Garmin watches I've owned.

It works!

The price is what made me decide on the forerunner 55. That being said, of course the more economical option does not have as many features. The screen is definitely the biggest downside. Lacks many colors and the display is not nearly as pretty as the more expensive ones. I am happy that it all the trackers work though.

Garmin Forerunner 55

This watch was exactly what I wanted. In the mountain valley I live in, my phone has a hard time maintaining GPS signal, so my run maps on Strava and other apps were always wonky and inaccurate. This watch manages to track my runs accurately with no problem, and the battery life is amazing.
