Underwhelming

I received this watch as an work anniversary gift. I was excited to be able to see what Garmin was all about but was let down. I have owned Samsung smart watches, Citizen Smart watches and figured that this watch would be right inline with those. I guess I had an unreal expectation due to the quality of my previous watches. The watch is really basic, lacks functionality and does not have the same features that other smart watches have. It is hard to navigate the apps. It feels like an old school game boy system, honestly. I would say this is a great introduction to smart watches, but if you have experience with other brands I would stay away.

I miss the 25

I am having difficulty getting used to this watch. I have always used a Garmin, but I only need the basics, which I had with the 25s. I don't need the extra features and am not able to see the information that I want to see while I am wearing the watch. I have to download to my computer to see what the pace per mile is, etc.The pacing doesn't seem to be correct either, especially on the treadmill.

Good watch

4.5 stars. The GPS works well most of the time, and there have only been a few times that it has taken more than a minute to get GPS, and that was when I was moving and in an area with lots of trees. It has lots of different options for watch faces and you can choose which data it displays while you are running. It’s also cool that it has heart rate and when you finish a run you can look at all sorts of data like elevation profile and even overlay two graphs, like speed and elevation. It also has the PacePro which allows you to add a route and then make a plan for how fast you want to run each part of it. The battery lasts about 4-7 days, depending on how long you use GPS. Overall it’s a good watch that I would definitely recommend for both beginner and intermediate runners.

Lots of Function … Too much?

I bought the Forerunner 55 to replace my 15 which finally wore out. The 15 was Start, Stop , Save with time and distance. That’s all I wanted. I still haven’t figured out how to accomplish that simple task with the 55. I stood out in the freezing cold the other day trying to get it to start. There were lots of confusing screens that got in the way. Finally, I just said oh well and started running without tracking. I suspect this is more my problem than the watch’s problem. I own several Garmin products from run, bike, and marine and all are top notch.

Not a good watch for me

Hello, I was hoping to find a suitable replacement for my Forerunner 35. The 55 has too many features for my needs and the screen is very difficult to read especially late in the day. I tried to work with the watch and became very frustrated as I wanted the time face and the watch continued to move me to the stop watch, I would try to click out of the stop watch and it would return and would not take me back to just seeing the time. Do you still have any Forerunner 35's or a similar simple watch without many features.

Inaccurate

Heart rate and intensity minutes are inaccurate. I just shoveled heavy, wet snow for an hour and my heart rate was 75 and I only had 10 intensity minutes which is a solute crap since I was sweating and out of breath. I ran on the treadmill last night and heart tracked between 60-80. This is not ok

Too much stuff

I want a watch that tells me what my pace is. Not what my pace is for a lap, whatever a lap is. Is a lap one mile? I want to know what time it is. i want to know how long I've been running. As it is I have to sort allot information to get this basic information.

Love this watch! battery life is great lasts me about 2 weeks depending on how many runs I track. It tracks the basic information I'm looking at as a new runner and also makes it easier for me to pace and train. I would absolutely recommend this watch to any new runners out there taking the next steps to improving your pace and distance. I also like that Garmin links with the Nike Run app and Strava.

Awesome Fitness Watch

When my last fitness tracker stopped working just before a bicycle tour I was participating in was scheduled to start I purchased the Forerunner. I am glad I did as it recorded each day’s mileage and elevation gain. It does much more than I expected.

Everything I need

I had an old Forerunner probably 8 years ago, and the 55, while simple compared to the bells and whistles of the fancier watches Garmin offers, is absolutely a dream upgrade. I'm a recreational runner, and this is everything I need and more: pace, VO2 max, steps, heart rate, and even training suggestions. Love it!
