[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this item for about 3 weeks now and I've had a great experience with it. Setup was very easy. I had someone help me set the unit in the windowsill just to make sure we didn't drop it, but it was all around a really easy installation process. I have single hung windows, so I was concerned it would not install properly, but it was totally fine. My only issue so far has been with properly insulating the open space so that bugs don't find their way in. The unit comes with insulation, but you may need to buy more depending upon the size of your window. I turn it on when it gets hot and set it on low with the temperature dial set to 7, and within minutes it's pleasantly cool in a room that's about 140 square feet. If I leave it on for a few hours the room is positively freezing, which I love. I've yet to have any reason to set the unit on high. With regards to noise, this air conditioner is not any louder than having a fan running in the room. Occasionally, while running, it makes some sounds that suggest that a part may be moving around, but that's about it. I have not yet gotten to see how this air conditioner affects the power bill, but I'll try to update when I find out.

I received this unit to cool several rooms, which is actually beyond what it is labeled to do, but I have found that it works quite well. As a single room air conditioner, it works extremely well. The bedroom can be downright chilly! It actually keeps my little house cool and really helps cut down on the humidity.

I use these in my rental properties and bought my first one with this design at least 4 years ago (possibly more). It is perfect for a good sized bedroom. I prefer mechanical versus electronic controls. They just seem to be sturdier and last longer without any mishaps. I would recommend this unit to anyone.

It was a nightmare before I got it and it's still a nightmare afterwards. If I wasn't such a penny pincher I would've gone for a better Frigidaire product but unfortunately that's just who I am as a person.

The price was reasonable, too. I like to buy Frigidaire products whenever possible as they seem to work well and remain problem-free.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a 76 year old female and was looking for a unit not more than 17 inches wide that I could personally install in the crank out window of my small apartment. This unit is perfect! I was able to install it, heavy, but I managed and used foam board to fill in above the unit. It is in my bedroom and I run it during the day now that it is above 90 degrees here in Wyoming, and it keeps my apt at 68 degrees. All window units are noisy, so I use this one during the day and my living room wall mounted unit at night to keep temp at 66 degrees so I'm never in the room with the noise! :) The unit was delivered not upright , so I let it sit upright per instructions prior to installation and it began to cool the room immediately first try! Exactly what I needed.

Cons: This blows cool air only, at best. Even after it ran for hours, it has never blown cold air. It's the least energy efficient of 5000 btu models. It only only has one air directional wheel, without the ability to tilt the vent. It only has two fan speeds: high and low. It does not have a digital display so you can't see what speed or mode it's on unless you walk right up to it. Manual controls only , no remote control. Pros: it's fairly quiet, it blows a lot of air.

We installed this air conditioner in our upstairs bedroom so we could keep the room cool at night without running our central air system so much (it's hard to keep the upstairs of a two story house as cool as the first floor). It really keeps the room comfortable.

This Frigidaire one is the only one that is 1/8” smaller than my window and fits right in. Its perfect to keep a bedroom cold. Basic features with knob control no digital display or remote. Perfect if in need of a small unit for small room.
