Amazing Picture, could have manufacturing defects

Picture was fantastic when I got it to work using my cell phone. The unit I got had a bad remote or IR receiver. I didn't want to use my phone as a remote all the time though. I decided to go with another set after the upset of packing it back up. But honestly I think the picture was better on this TV. Hopefully you have better luck than me.

I think it might be a good TV

The TV came in but it looked like it had been used. The back of the TV looked somewhat aged like it was either on display or returned. I paid for a new one. That would have probably been overlooked but the screen has some DSE and banding. I'm looking at returning it.

Good Tv. Good price point

It's an ok tv. For the price its good but there others you should spend a little extra on and you'd get a better picture and faster interface. I've seen several reviews complain about sound. Get a soundbar, powered speakers or home theater. These are not built for great sound. It looks the best in a dark room. If your room has a lot of light, it will take away from the picture.

Best tv for the money.

Very good picture quality. Lives up to reviews. Made two adjustments. Using the picture button on remote change the setting to bright otherwise the colors are too dull. Also, using the menu button adjust the audio by turning on sound leveling. It adds quality to the sound so that a sound bar isn't needed.

So We bought this TV, to replace an old one. Picture seems great, But we have had it just over a week. And we constantly have to reset the TV, so that the apps work. Never had an issue with my old one doing this. So it is getting returned. For this reason.

Excellent picture and useful settings

This TV is amazing, especially considering the price. The colors are rich and the black areas are a deep inky black. I re-watched the first episode of Altered Carbon in 4K UHD (HDR10) and it was outstanding. The detail is crisp. There was no blooming in the blacks and dark greys. When I watched some 1080p shows I got a small amount of blooming where the very dark spaces had some texture - ripples on a lake, for example. But even in 1080p there was far less blooming than I'd experienced with my previous TV which was a Vizio P-series from 5 years ago. I'm incredibly happy with the picture. Vizio has done a really good job with the picture settings. I don't like a lot the motion processing modern TVs use to prevent blur and sharpen edges. I normally shut those features off completely. I think I have the settings where I want to leave them on this TV now and I'm actually using a bit of the Vizio processing. I have the "Edge Enhancement" and "Noise Reduction" on Low. The "Motion Control" I set to Off because I can't stand the "soap opera effect." Great TV and can't beat the price. I recommend the new model (M55Q8) over last year's model (M55Q7) because the Q8 has 90 local dimming areas and the Q7 has 30. I haven't seen them side by side but I'd bet the tripple dimming areas make a difference.

Returning and never buying Vizio again

Day 18 of having it. The first 17 days were really nice. Very bright and vivid colors. Great sound, and nice that I could control my TV with the Google Home mini. Today I went to the main screen of my fire stick, and noticed a black line in the top right hand corner. I got up to take a closer look, to find that about 8 pixels have died. I find that a TV having this issue within 20 days is just sad. I have a box with no evidence of damage, was very careful mounting it to my stand. I just can't believe that pixels are going out already. I replaced my Samasung 6 series LCD 1080p 52" with this and I never had one issue with that TV. I will never try with this brand ever again. BTW have tried to factory reset it and a pixel test on youtube. Still dead!

Great color quality; high functionality!

I've only had the TV for a couple of weeks now and am still evaluating the product. So far we are generally happy with it. The only complaint so far is that the TV sound quality is mediocre. It would appear that Vizio compells you to buy a soundbar to complete the package.

Dead pixels everywhere

The fist tv that I got had dead pixels all over the screen and the sound was piping. At least 15 dead pixels. the replacement tv had dead pixels too. There's at least 10. It's really frustrating when walmart is the only company that is selling this tv now. They just ship it without and packaging. Just the Vizio's original box. No signature required either so someone can just take it and know what kind of tv it is. I'm coming from an old sony bravia 40" tv from 10 years ago so it's frustrating when the tvs I'm getting don't work. I've done lost of research for what tv to get and this is the best tv for around $550 from a name brand company.(sony, samsung,lg,vizio.) I don't buy other brank tvs that the good ones. now I'm wondering if vizio is good or not. It seems theres a quality control issue. Going to return the second one and try again. Third time's the charm? We will see. I expect to buy a TV and not have any problems especially a $600 one.( All the pictures are from my second tv)

Do not buy.

Do not buy. This TV looks great but it works only about 50% of the time. Most days the audio is out of control and the volume gets stuck too high or too low. While the picture looks beautiful when the screen is on, a lot of times there is no picture when it boots up. I made a warranty claim for a broken pixel and Vizio was pretty good about trying to replace the first one, but the second one had more problems and ultimately I am returning this for a refund and buying a Samsung. Walmart is great. Vizio service was great too, but this product has major issues.
