We really like the Silverton Pergola that we purchased. In fact, after constructing it, we decided we wanted a second one for the other side of our patio. The instructions are very good, however there are a lot of pieces to assemble and it is important to follow the instructions precisely. It is not hard to assemble but it does take 2 people, especially when raising the corner posts. If you have any wind, the anchors provided are not sufficient at all. I bought some stronger ones at the hardware store. Overall, we are very pleased with the purchase.

Went together easy, and instructions were well done. My only complaint is that 1 board had the holes in it drilled about 1/2" off from where they should have been. Luckily, they were not in a visible area and I was able to correct the situation by drilling a pair of new holes above them. If it hadn't been for that, it would have received 5 stars! This is soft wood, so definitely treat with a water sealing type product to maintain finish!

We LOVE this pergola! My husband and I put it together. Took about a day and a half, but is sturdy, beautiful, and the instructions were so easy to understand. We hung lights from the beams and can't wait til it warms up to enjoy sitting outside! :-)

Very sturdy and nice. Delivered before time. I had my contractor to build and install. The bar was poorly glued together with remnants of glue on bar tops. The trim boards of the bar are warped and will require screws to secure. I started to request bar top replacement but i called Backyard for an upgraded electric plug on a Monday and by Friday they still had not sent that out. In that regard not very happy with heir customer service and did not want to wait for replacement or the extra cord but did want future customers to be aware.

”The good, the bad and the ugly …” Good: price, value, finished look, ease of assembly (8-hour solo project). Bad: the pre-cut pieces were for the most-part labeled and pre-drilled. The only parts that were not labeled were the most critical; the 4 corner posts. It actually does matter which post goes where and which way they face when upright. After assembling and disassembling twice, I guessed right on the third try. Not a big deal but it cost me an extra hour. A bigger deal was the misaligned pilot holes in the support braces and the cross beams over the top. Ugly: the bar assembly. As the only pre-assembled components in the entire pergola, you would think they would be golden… You'd be wrong. The assembly of the bar tops is sloppy, the edge trim on the left side of the top is perfectly flush, as you move to the right, you find a 1/8 inch lip. What is more damning, is the pre-drilled holes that are to support the bar were supposed to be in the center of the support beams. If you “just” follow the instructions you won't notice they are out of alignment until you try to affix the second half of the bar tops. The pilot holes were drilled right at the inside edge of the posts, making the little divider-wall flush with the inside edge of the posts. By doing this, there is no place to attach the second (inner) bar top. Also Ugly: the customer service. The delivery took 6 weeks. The delivery company uses text messages to communicate. This would be a good thing, if you could reply to that text message. When you reply, you get a notice that the number is not monitored and offers a phone number to call. The phone number goes to a different trucking company that has nothing to do with this company at all. The guy that answered was actually pretty cool about it, he explained that he had been getting calls due to that wrong number for months but no one would fix it. Then it gets better, I got text messages from the delivery service indicating a much earlier date so I took a day off work to be home. No one showed. I tried calling the correct phone number, and no one answered the phone all day. This happened twice on two different dates. Finally, as we approached the actual delivery date, I had been given a 4 hour arrival window, with a promise of a call from the drivers when they were 30 minutes away. There was no phone call. 1 hour after the delivery window, I was able to get a young woman on the phone, who seemed surprised about the phone call. She left me on hold for 20 minutes, to find out where the truck was. I hung up and called back, got a different woman, who in 5 minutes was able to tell me she had no idea why the truck was late, and rather than leave me on hold would call me back. She never did; but the truck arrived about 20 minutes later. The drivers were cool, they even carried the boxes and extra 20 feet to place where I needed them. Summary = Overall I give it a 3 because the process was disappointing on so many levels; It would be a nightmare to disassemble and return, but I can live with the end result. It is a good looking pergola that I would recommend to others if they are willing to risk the complications that might arise. I will enjoy it nevertheless.

This is a beautiful product but we had terrible experience with customer service. We had to get a replacement piece and it took 4 different times to get the correct piece. The CS people I spoke with and communicated with were great but the warehouse that actually ships the items out are apparently out in space. We had the pergola half way up when we came to a piece with was cracked and had to order replacement. Finally, weeks later, we did get the correct piece - but it took getting the wrong pieces 3 times prior. Again, I'm sure most people will not come across this problem and in the end it turned out beautiful. I would still recommend getting this pergola. Also, be aware that you must put a sealant on every piece of wood as soon as you can in order for the warranty to be valid. This was added work time we hadn't counted on but will be worth it in the end.

Very happy with this pergola. We opted to assemble it ourselves, which proved successful. I applied sealant to every piece before assembling, this took some time but hoping it pays off. My recommendation is to work slowly and methodically, paying close attention to each step. Refer to both the written instructions and followed the Bilt app instructions. Make sure you understand the pre-drilled holes orientation. We had to make an adjustment to correct the post because they were turned the wrong way. Totally our fault.

Due to social distancing I had to build this without a second person. I was thankful that I was able to get it done without help. That was certainly due to the excellent predrilling of the holes. There were two pieces that got lost in shipping. I contacting the seller and they got those pieces to me quickly. Labelling of the pieces and hardware was excellent.

This pergola is amazing! Very easy to put together. Every part was perfectly pre-drilled and fit together. I had two or the top boards come in with some defects, so I contacted Backyard Discovery and I had the two boards replaced within days, free of charge. It looks perfect and everyone is jealous!

Solid pergola, had the company install, disappointed it wasn't sealed, I had to hire an electrician, I also had to have someone come and anchor it down, not sure why the company doesn't do that either. Overall it's a really nice addition to my backyard and living space.
