Definitely a TERRIBLE purchase!

We have had our dishwasher for just over 3 years now. It first stopped working just a few months after purchasing it. We have had it repaired 3 times already and now it is not properly working agin. The first time it was the control panel that needed to be replaced. Next it stopped draining. The third problem was another issue with the control panel not working. Currently the LED lights only come on occasionally and we have to pack our patience to get it started. Our extended warranty ended a couple months ago and now the motor sounds like it is going out. It is no longer a quiet wash but an insanely loud cycle. Needless to say, I will be purchasing a new dishwasher and never purchasing another LG. I am so disappointed!

Horrible dishwasher

Bought this less than 2 years ago, and it no longer works. Leaked all over my kitchen floor. It's terrible dishwasher for the price, barely washed dishes. But so many smart features, I used to love lg phones, so i thought their appliances would be good too. Avoid LG appliances.

Trouble and more trouble

First, the heating element went out, leaving the dishwasher running with cold water and not getting dishes clean. Then there is a clicking noise during dry cycle. A service tech said it was the electronics panel. LG is dragging its feet now in paying for a new panel and labor to install. 3 techs so far have told us LG is a nightmare to work with. Agreed! We'll never buy another LG product.

NC error

The LG dishwasher I bought two years ago broke down completely. I will never buy a product from this brand again. It gives a warning with the NC code, and the repair costs are almost as much as a new machine. I don’t recommend it at all.

We are sorry for the disappointment your LG dishwasher has caused. The 'nC' code often indicates a communication error between the door latch and the main control board. Sometimes, a simple power reset (turning off the breaker for 10–15 minutes) can clear this if it's a software glitch. We would appreciate the chance to review your case and provide further options. Should you ever have questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out at 1-888-542-2623 (Mon-Sun, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET).

Horrible material used in racks

Racks are not made of stainless steel hence plastic melts. There is no to way to add pictures in the forum or you will see the deteriorating plastic shelves!

Love the dishwasher! But....

The dishwasher itself is great! It cleans dishes very well and I like the layout of all three racks. The only thing that really bugged me was the installation company, RXO. :( The crew started a wash cycle and didn't show me the inside, I should have insisted rather than trust they had thouroughly checked the machine. The top of the dishwasher was bent inwards and had bent the sprayer for the top rack! I called about it and they checked it out the next day and said we needed a replacement. One of their social media people tried to keep me in the loop about when they would come and take care of that, but eventually I stopped hearing from him and nobody I called or messaged was helpful in the least! Sam's couldn't do a replacement because by that point it had been over 48 hours, RXO said to contact Sam's, Sam's said to contact LG, and LG said to contact Sam's. We were able to push the top of the dishwasher back up so we could open the top rack, and the sprayer still worked. After months of no help it was to the point that we were fine keeping the machine but were frustrated that we payed full price for a damaged dishwasher. Finally we got hold of a Sam's representative who helped us out and assured us it wouldn't happen again. So Sam's was great and so is our LG dishwasher, but beware of the installation company!

Doing its job after one year

I have had this dishwasher for a year now and in general I am impressed with the machine's ability to clean dishes. Some negatives to share: no stemware (wine glasses) rack, noisier than advertised, a foggy deposit on some stemware long cycle - normal setting is 2.5 hrs

Thank you for sharing your experience with your dishwasher. We’re glad to hear that you’re impressed with its cleaning performance overall! We appreciate your feedback regarding the absence of a stemware rack, the noise level, and the foggy deposits on some glassware. These are important points, and we’ll be sure to pass them along to our product team for consideration. If you haven’t already, you might want to try using a rinse aid or adjusting the detergent type, as these can sometimes help reduce fogging on glassware. Also, if you’d like, our support team is happy to assist you with any troubleshooting tips to optimize the machine’s performance. Thanks again for your valuable feedback, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can help in any way!

Buy other brand and don't waste your money

Doesn't get the dishes clean. Does NOT dry them. Have tried every cycle. Tried running it with half the capacity, still won't clean or dry. Emptied every filter and cleaned the machine. Only lasted 2 years. No warranty left. My LG fridge I bought at the same time is dying also, the compressor is starting to fail. Never buying LG again.

Persistent Chemical Odor During Normal Operation

I purchased the LG LDTS5552S dishwasher and have experienced a persistent chemical odor since the beginning of ownership. The smell is difficult to describe precisely, but it resembles heated rubber, vinyl, petroleum products, or synthetic plastic. The odor becomes stronger as the dishwasher heats up and appears to be emitted from the lower vent area. The problem occurs even during normal operation without using the High Temp or Extra Dry settings. Over the past year I have tried numerous troubleshooting steps, including cleaning the filters repeatedly, running cycles without detergent, using dishwasher cleaning cycles, and removing additional plastic accessories from inside the machine. None of these actions resolved the issue. The dishes themselves do not retain the odor, but the heated air emitted by the dishwasher does. The smell is strong enough to travel beyond the kitchen and can sometimes be noticed on the second floor of the house. After more than a year of trying to live with this issue, I have stopped using the dishwasher altogether and returned to washing dishes by hand because I am not comfortable having my family continuously exposed to the odor. What concerns me most is that this odor appears whenever the appliance is heated, suggesting that materials inside the unit may be releasing volatile compounds into the air. I do not know whether LG has evaluated the long-term impact of breathing these emissions during routine daily use, but I believe this is a legitimate concern that deserves attention. I am disappointed because otherwise the dishwasher performs well. If LG is aware of this issue or has a solution, I would genuinely appreciate a response. I hope my review helps other consumers, especially those who are sensitive to chemical odors, make a more informed purchasing decision.

Verified Purchase

Great buy!

Great purchase of a great machine. Best part is the adjustable middle shelf. Allows taller items, like cutting boards, on the bottom.
