Easy Set-Up and Operation

I bought this generator a few days ago due to hurricane power loss. Set-up took about 10 minutes and it started pretty easily (5 or 6 pulls) for such a large generator. I ran a water pump, refrigerator, router/modem, DVR and TV and had excellent gas consumption.

Great generator but my gas cap fell apart!

We purchased this for power during Hurricane Matthew in Oct 2016 and it served us well. Easy to start and operate. It powered all of the essentials in our home and our neighbor's home with room for more. Following this, I prepared it for storage in our garage. Fast forward to September 2017 and preparation for Hurricane Irma, I pull it out and it started on the 2nd pull. that was great considering the fuel was left for 11 months (yes I used stabilizer). I decided to top it off with gas and the fuel cap was stuck in place. Not cross threaded either! As I worked to grip and twist the cap, the black part that you can see came off in my hand leaving the white inner cap still stuck in the tank threads. I worked to remove this inner cap and discovered that there's barely any thread on the metal tank at all. Just slightly raised threads. This wasn't an issue during the 5 or 6 tanks that we ran through it before. The cap came off and went back on with ease. I'm not sure what caused this to change as it just sat in the garage, but it seemed as if it was fused together. I'm not sure if I got a dud fuel cap or what, but this is not the part that I would expect to have fail! So overall, I gave it 4 stars because it worked great for the 3 days we needed it and it still runs fine even now. I'm just really disappointed that the fuel cap broke off like it did. I called customer service and the phone tree told me that I had a 43 minute wait to actually speak with someone. Hopefully someone from Champion will read this and contact me to make it right.

carb and filter problem but rest is great

we bought ours barely used. We used ours about once a week for about 1-2 hrs to run a saw, cutter or other small equip in a salvage yard. After using it for a few months it wouldnt start so we dropped shut of valve and cleaned filter. That lasted a few more months then filter plugged again and carb started leaking. we ordered new carb and cleaned filter again then all good until now. Filter is bad so we are ordering a new style replacement filter and are told should be good to go. The generator, when running does a great job and performs well. parts are reasonable and service helpful.

Great except for gas leaking from carbrator

For the first 7 months this unit started up quickly whenever I tested it out. It supplies almost 1/2 of my home, from boiler, sumps, freezer, refrigerator, and some medical items. After shutting it down on month 8 fuel started to accumulate under the carburetor. I removed it, cleaned the needle valve and reinstalled it. 3 Months later, after shut down the same problem occured. After 3 more times of this, I am replacing the carburetor.

As your testimony shows, the problem here is not the carburetor itself, but in fact ethanol build up that you are having to clean out of the carburetor. I have emailed you our latest storage instructions that will hopefully help you avoid repeat issues with your new carburetor.
