Good set for techies
clear picture, down-firing speakers, dual output audio helpful for some users. interface much less intuitive than tcl, where metadata for apps is also much richer. i get the feeling samsung would like to confine me in the realm of their chosen apps. samsung would like me to use this set also as a web browser and picture album. it feels a little claustrophobic to me; maybe not to others. remote is small and weighted at one end. if you've ever wished for fewer buttons on your remote, this one has only nine, plus three more for native apps. the flip side is that the two toggle switches move in three directions each. again, not very intuitive and somewhat precarious.

I value a product that works
had this tv for about 16 months, hardly used it. now i only get a blue screen every 5 seconds before it shuts off. the 2nd samsung in a row that lasted me less than 2 years. both lost their pictures out of no where, no sign that there was a problem. great tv when it was working. i feel as though if i spend my hard earned money on something it should last more than a year or two.
Short lifespan
I bought the 2020 version of this LED Smart TV--UN50TU800F. It lasted until last year (2023), about two months after our extended warranty ended. Then lines developed at the bottom of the screen. Within a few months, the screen went black. It is now a piece of worthless junk. I would not buy this machine again, and certainly not with an extended warranty.
Best Picture Quality Ever
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my new 50” Series 8 Samsung TV. The picture quality is outstanding. The flesh tones are so realistic. It's been about 4 years since my last TV purchase and the difference was amazing. Having the apps available made it easier to setup after I figured out how to add my FIOS. The sound is very good and it comes with extra gaming ports. I'm totally pleased with my purchase. I have not experienced any issues and I enjoy watching an excellent picture now that we've are forced to spend more time at home. I highly recommend this TV for anyone looking to purchase a new TV. You can't go wrong and watching sports is fantastic.
Clear picture, spotty juttering
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] TV has great picture quality for most occasions, a good but not great built-in-speaker, and an easy-to-use UI. The picture clarity suffers for high-speed projectiles when watching sports, e.g. pucks and baseballs, but is otherwise good.
GREAT PICTURE BUT LACKS ON INTERFACE & INPUT
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The picture quality on this TV is excellent. Best I've had to date. However. That is negated by two major frustrations that make me want my money back and a different TV. 1. The user interface, or REMOTE, is the ABSOLUTE worst I've ever used. I hate every single going about it. Its difficult to use. Its so sensitive, accidental button presses are a frequent occurrence, taking you to an app or resetting to default. The odd shape of the remote has it frequently tipping and falling to the floor or between the couch cushions. Spend hours it seems trying to find it. The volume up/down and channel up/down are ridiculous and do not function well. The overall design, and function, as it relates to the on screen user interface is complicated, not well thought out, or overthought might actually be the problem. Just horrid. 2. WIFI connection and apps stability is unstable constantly. I watch live TV through Hulu. At least every hour, sometimes more, this TV drops the Hulu connection randomly, without warning, for no reason. I have Cox Gigablast Internet with Panorama WiFi, which is extremely fast and stable. But this inferior TV constantly, daily, near hourly drops the Hulu App, returning to the default channel. VEVO. WHICH I DID NOT MAKE VEVO THE DEFAULT CHANNEL, ABD IT ALWAYS COMES ON VERY LOUD. ITS RIDICULOUS. I AM A VERY VERY LOYAL SAMSUNG CUSTOMER. I LITERALLY BUY ALL THIER ELECTRONICS, PHONES TABS COMPUTERS ETC AS THEY ARE RELEASED. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN SAMSUNG AND WANT TO RETURN THIS TV.
Impressive and effective
i purchased this tv as a replacement to a lemon that conked out on me after two years. this gave me the opportunity to consider many improvements. the tu-8000 has a beautiful picture, and i really like the tizen os, and how it allows me to use the same remote to control my cable channels and my streaming ones. there are a few minor shortcomings, like the viewing angle, and the judder on red artifacts while watching cable, but they are minor compared to all the pluses. i purchased the 50" with the plan of getting a qled model later on in a bigger size, and placing this tu-8000 in the bedroom.
Good tv with some major frustrations
bought this to replace an older samsung with a broken pedestal. picture quality is great. nice added channel options. happy with the bluetooth functions. as for the frustrations: it is pretty slow to repond when pressing buttons. the internet connection stinks which takes the “smart” out of the tv. some channels are better than others but we often get stopped multiple times during a show because of no internet connectivity. this was especially noticeable with the roku app. we had hoped to be able to disconnect all of the extras. now we have the old roku hooked back up and it works well. tv firmware is up to date and hardwiring the tv is going to be nearly impossible. i'm hoping that samsung comes up with some fixes in the future.
Very average
i have had this tv for 2 weeks now. i know this is a budget tv, but i still expected more. the picture is not that great. i find the colors lacking. especially the brightness of the colors. they are too dark. i have a 4k bluray player, and have watched several 4k movies, and i am not impressed. also the viewing angle is pretty bad. look at the tv from the side and it looks horrible. i also am not a fan of the remote. i bought this to replace a 2 year old 70 inch vizio that was also somewhat of a budget model. the picture on the vizio is much better. i am not sure if i am going to keep or return this tv.

Step into the future
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After opening the box and plugging it in, I anticipated an online setup at the very least. Everything fell smoothly into place! Brilliant picture, wonderful sound & unlimited options. My single solitary complaint is: This tv does not offer a Hotspot option.
