First time the generator was called upon for a three day period, ran low on oil.. Note oil was full at the onset. Needs a larger oil reservoir. Tech. said oil needs to be added after two to three days of use. What if you are away for a week? Power came on any quickly off, was told "only one leg came on" however this resulted in the generator stopping and an alarm signal came on. Tech had to come out to reset. Finally neighbor bought a Cummins 20KW generator, it is much quieter, and has a remote that is in the house. It allows you to turn the generator on and off in the house, and monitor the load.that is being used.Very nice feature that Generac does not have. Plus you can control remote online. Generac is good but Cummins is better 66 vs. 63 dB. plus a remote..

We had the 20 KW unit installed in May 2014. It performs the weekly self test/run every week without fail. In addition I flip the main breaker maybe a couple times each month and the unit kicks in and runs the whole house. Last year during the summer a tornado/high wind event came through the area and the power went out for three hours but the Generac came on and ran two air conditioners, pool pump, pool heat pump, refrigerator and TV for three hours no problem. It eased the anxiety associated with the event. It worked just as well through the cold New England winter, starting and running with the cold weather battery warmer option.

Nice generator. Went with Generac based on reviews and the fact that my old neighbor had one for years without issues. Install time was lengthy...took a team of two installers from 8am to 9:30pm and still didn't quite get it completed. Quality appears high except for a few interior panels that did not fit together well. Unit will run most of my home and I have 2 DLM's installed to shed the Hot Tub and Double Wall Oven. I am an electrical engineer and highly recommend this model and it's a good value for the money but, if you need/want a generator, this would be the one to buy.

With 18 inches of snow on the ground we received 8 inches of rain in one weekend. I had 4 pumps running in the sump and was keeping up with the water until the power went out for 6 hours. It cost me thousands in damage and lost work time, and I vowed never again to let it happen. I researched and decided on the Generac 20kw with smart switch and used my tax return to pay for it. had this generator (20kW) installed a month before Irma came roaring through...lost power sunday night and it ran straight until power was restored on thursday afternoon...92 straight hours,,,it used roughly 125 gals. of propane out of the 400 gals. i started with in my 500 gal. tank...oil use was negligible...performed like a champ...wish it were quieter, but the constant engine noise was a small price to pay to keep my house, including a/c up and running.

Very happy with this generator. it handles the load with no problems. I know that this system will give me great service as the installers did a great job and you would not know that it was just installed. I do like the low noise level on this 20 KW. When in the house you would not know you are on backup power. This generator is one that you can buy and know you have purchased a very good quality generator

Every week when the Generac does its scheduled test run, I like hearing the steady thrumming sound -- it spells security. We've had the generator for nearly a year and it has run flawlessly through a couple of outages (several hours in duration). The unit looks good and our dealer did an outstanding job of installing it -- very neat and professional.
