Excellent Generator

Decided to purchase this generator after the Texas power grid debacle during the Feb 2021 winter storm. We were VERY fortunate to only lose power for 2-3 hours during that week but purchased this generator to provide piece of mind for the future. Installed a 10-circuit metered manual transfer switch and custom made 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) power cord. Connected it to our NG power source at the back of the house with the included 25 ft NG gas hose that I extended with an additional 12 ft NG gas hose. Installed extra QDDs to make it easier to hook-up at the NG source end and tried out the system the other day and it worked like a charm! I was able to cycle the power over to the generator through the transfer switch circuit by circuit and power the necessities in the event of a winter power outage. While the unit will not power my 5-Ton AC unit during a summer outage, I plan to purchase a portable room AC in that event. Started very easily on the battery start. Challenge will be to keep the battery charged, but with a manual pull-start as a back-up it shouldn't be a problem. While I hope that I won't need to use it, I feel much better prepared for a potential future event.

Home run

The generator is a home run. I've only had it for two or three days but assembly was seamless plugged into natural gas and propane started up without a problem. Hopefully I will not need generator but I sleep well knowing I have it as back up ,highly recommended.

What's not to like?!

I'm glad I chose to go with the Tri-Fuel portable power generator. It provides so much flexibility with fuel types and the generator's built-in features really makes it a snap to operate. It started up immediately and it runs very smoothly with all three fuel types. I use natural gas and the 7000 watts continuous output is more than enough for our electricity needs during a blackout. The generator's build quality is superb, tank-tough and is quite easy for this senior citizen to maneuver into place with its large wheels and handle, even with a full tank of gasoline. Well done Champion!

Excellent product

I would definitely recommend this product for others. Trifuel system is awesome allowing for 3 ways to run it. When I received the item and took it out of the crate, the assembly was a breeze. I set it up for natural gas attached the gas hose and the generator started right away. No issues. Easy to maneuver. Installing it in an outdoor safety box. It takes a lot of pressure off worrying about storms now.

Lacks power; short-lived battery; high-priced - bad choice!

Unable to provide 6,000W power (running on gas) for my home when we lost electricity for 4 days this past winter. From difficulty to start the engine, to its high noise (revving up and down for no reason as it could not provide enough power), thus its lacking power, , and all the frustration and inconvenience... this product became the worst buy of all time. Support agents were moody, quick-mannered and rude, but most importantly, incompetent as they wasted my time & efforts to get any solution. Will get rid off this generator for another brand. It has been a bad experience for us.

We are very sorry to hear about this experience with one of our generators. If the unit has been surging, it may be due to an obstruction within the carburetor itself. A replacement carburetor should remedy this immediately. Check to also make sure the spark arrestor is clean of any carbon buildup, as that could also cause the generator lack power. At your earliest convenience, please give us a call at 1-877-338-0999, submit a message via live chat through our site, email at support@cpeauto.com, or reply to the email notification you will receive once our response has been posted to your review, so we may help address this issue for you. Thank you for your patience.

Great Product

I bought this generator on the recommendation of a neighbor and my electrician. I was sold on the TRI fuel aspect, as the gas is no good anymore. I had the house set to be able to plug the generator in and run the whole house. Of course it will be limited, but I will have power to run the essentials. I received the generator, put it together....wheels...hooked up the propane and it fired right off. No problems at all. One of the features that I didn't know about was the oil change line. How great. You don't have to suck the oil out, tip it on its side to empty it. there is a line that drops down and lets the oil run out when it's time to change it. Real easy maintenance. I also have a little Champion generator for my RV. Great products.

Unboxing experience great, will update with more experience

From my research this was the best (almost only) tri-fuel generator available. It is sized perfectly for my small home and will be able to actually run my whole house. My plans are to add a transfer switch and plumb an NG line so that I can have a pretty much unlimited source in case of power outage. Packaging and instructions are great, and the machine itself seems to be of very high quality construction. I'm looking forward to getting it fueled up and tested out.

Very Solid Generator for the Price

This generator is versatile, being able to utilize three different types of fuel and very easy to put together. The model is sleek yet powerful. Have not been able to run the generator yet (which is a good thing), but I purchased this model as I heard great things via word of mouth. Happy with my purchase and the support from Champion.

Natural gas fuel option

I bought this generator for power outages. I wanted a natural gas fuel option so I can keep the generator going without stopping to refuel. It took several cranks from the starter to get it going. I suspect the NG took a minute or so to get through the supplied hose. Once started it ran fine. I like that the unit came with oil and a funnel. Have not had to use it for an outage yet, but I'm confident it will do the job.

My second and I love them.

This is something I should have done a while back. That is buying a multi-fuel generator. I held off on getting a backup standalone generator, 1, because of price and 2, because I have 3 friends that have purchased them that has had nothing but problems. We've had a little smaller portable generator, 6500 watt all gasoline that works great, but when you are putting in about 14 gallons a day in it. That's almost 3 5 gallon gas cans a day, that's a lot of storage of gas. If it's a heavy ice storm, or snow fall, you better hope you can get to a gas station in the 5 days before the 15 gas cans we had were used up. We received the new generator last. Week and after unpacking it and making sure everything was right, we hooked it to a propane tank and it fired right up. We ran it on the propane tank for 4 hours with a load level that varied from about 28% to 46%. They say to keep it below 50%. The last 2 hours we ran it on natural gas to finish up the last 2 hours of break in time. We drained the oil and put in the specified synthetic oil. 3 days later we lost power for 35 hours. Well the area lost power for 35 hours. We were comfortable as could be.we had internet, Dish TV, and everything we needed. We didn't dry the washer or dryer at that time, but with a managed load I'm sure it could do it. This is our 3rd Champion product with one more on order. Our first is a power washer that we bought new in2016 and it is still going strong, so I'm very confident that we will stay comfortable in our next storm and the power goes out. By the way, we live in Tornado alley so we aren't strangers to severe weather. It is not very loud at all. Thank you Champion for quality products.
