Bought unit as a back-up for potential power outages. Selected this particular generator because of its multi-fuel ability. Currently have it attached to a natural gas supply but have several propane bottles as back-ups. Assembly and start up directions were very easy to follow and it fired right up with no issues. If the power company has problems, I won't, and won't lose any food stocks. With this large capacity unit I'm planning on getting a portable A/C unit to keep cool while I eat. Also bought the Storm Shield cover to protect it from the elements, even while it's running.

My son and I recently got this generator after having numerous power issues living in the Gulf South. The generator was easy to set up with succinct instruction from the manual. However, as we were moving it outdoors to our natural gas line, we realized the packaging bag with the generator contained numerous tiny metal balls. A lot of them. Cleaning these took awhile, but once we got the generator hooked up and tested it. We found it works just fine for our needs. So 4 stars, but the packaging was odd.

As advertised and reviewed, spend hours on research of a portable generator. Running in 20 minutes of opening the box. Neighbors stopping by while the transfer switch was installed and tested, commenting how much they liked it! Price and warranty were a big factor as well!

Our 1st Champion generator lasted 10 years! And that was running it every day in the winter months. We live off grid and NEED a generator to charge our batteries through our inverter. When our first one needed to be replaced only a Firman was available to us. That lasted 1 year! Was sent a refurbished warranted replacement that didn't even last 30 hours! Their customer service SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got tired of their runaround tactics and will just eat the cost on that. NOT worth the hassle! Called Champion and got the info needed to choose the right size for our needs. CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES! Just unpacked, added oil and started this new one. Right out of the box it sounded great and worked!!!!! EASY set up! EASY start! Just what was needed.

This 100416 is replacing the 40046 I purchased in 2008 and it still runs like a top. The only reason I am replacing it is because I need a generator that has an electric start and a bit more wattage. After setting up the 100416 I am sure the quality and dependability will be just like the 40046. I have set this one up with a 100lb. propane tank and plan to use it with gasoline and propane.

I purchased this generator for home use during power outages. It came well packaged and with excellent instructions on set up operation and Maintenace. I ran the unit on propane for the five hour break in period after changing the oil I put it to work. This is a well built generator and the tri-fuel set up makes it so handy to use. I have it primary on Natural gas to power my home during power outages. I have test ran the unit and the power is clean the voltage and hertz hold very steady during load changes. All in all I make the right choice buying this unit and highly recommend champion products.

I had been looking for at a whole home back up generator for hurricane season but was not enjoying the location requirements (basically dead center of my small backyard) for something permanent. This generator was my solution. I am very happy with the instructions manual because it is clear and detailed without reading like school text book. Even with no generator experience, a single read through has answered all of my questions. I have not had to hook it up to my home NG service for anything other than a test run at this point but it was simple to set up. If I never come back and edit this review. Then you can assume it worked like a charm for me during an inevitable Louisiana 3 day power outage between June and October. I have already recommended this to multiple people.

The ability to use a natural gas connection and not have to keep adding fuel is really great. The generator is a beast but well balanced and easy to move from the shed to outdoors when necessary. The StormShield cover and storage skirt (also very well made) will allow me to leave it outside in the winter. The generator took a little time to start the 1st time but I suspect that if I had waited a minute to let the gas pressure build up it would be fine. I tested it with the furnace, clothes dryer, refrigerator, sump pump, and many light all on at the same time and it worked great. It's fairly loud but quiter than some generators that I've heard. All in all, a very reasonable alternative to a permanently installed Standby generator, and WAY less expensive, even after hiring someone to run the gas line and 30 amp outlet.

I first used this generator during a power loss in my area. I fabricated a cord to feed my 100A home electrical panel. I was able to utilize all 120v home appliances including lighting, without issue. I did not notice surging or variations in light brightness. This was a great power source. I have to admit, it is a bit loud, but I would gladly deal with this rather than be in the dark. Also, I operated this on gasoline. Having the tri-fuel option is what initially made me choose this inut.

Bought this as power backup to be able to run most - if not all - of our appliances during our next blackout. Super easy to assemble the wheels and feet. Added oil and gas and cranked up the first push of a button. Looking forward to testing out the 459cc engine on various work projects!
