Excellent system and a great value

After having a terrible experience with another brand of security camera system that I ultimately returned, this Swann system is excellent. and I really like it. Installation is straightforward with only one wire, an ethernet cable, connecting each camera to a server. The software that you run directly on the server is very good and it has a fairly short learning curve. The Android app is super easy to load and get working. The Windows PC app took a little more time to get working. The only complaint that I have is that it takes a good bit of effort to 'tune' the cameras to avoid false alarms. It is necessary to shade out various areas that can cause false triggers, such as leaves on plants, hanging flower baskets, and even a ceiling fan. It took a few days of playing around with the alarm settings but I think I have my system pretty well 'tuned'. I am really happy that I purchased this system, and I feel much more secure about my home when I am not there. It is also nice to know that I have cameras working even when I am at home at night.

Nice hard wired system replace wifi battery system

Only had it up and running for a few days, but so far am very pleased. I bought this because it was a hard wired system and not wifi. The arlo wifi system I was using seemed to never be online and always out of battery. Also,there was a large lag between the time it detected motion to start recording, it was pretty much worthless. I use this system at the office and set it initially to record on all cameras 24/7, so it is really not monitored, we just use it if there is an incident. To be honest, I had my network guy wire it all in and set up to the network and internet, but the iphone app works fine for monitoring. If the alarm at work goes off we can just look at the app to see if it is a false alarm. Still trying to figure out the push notifications. The interface on the actual NVR is pretty clunky, but it seems like you can fine tune the settings for almost any variable. The video quality is fantastic. One camera went out right away and it only took about two hours with the company before they agreed to send a new one.

I bought this system as a replacement for an older Swann system.. I tried another brand first and had nothing but trouble . I sent it back and ordered the Swann. I find the pictures on this system to be great in the daytime but weak at night. I am very happy that I got the power over Ethernet version. It is much easier to install than the coax systems. The NVR is almost silent which is also a plus.

Good picture, but that is about it

I bought this system to replace my old camera system. Not happy with this system. They is no instruction manual for it to set the setting. you have go on youtube. The camera angle is not good, but good picture. You can not see anything but about ten feet wide. Swann needs to put some instructions on their website.

Cameras incompatible

Unable to know if the unit works well as we purchased it to replace another model NVR only to find out our cameras are not compatible with the 88580H. Now we have an expensive paperweight. Would be good if the compatibility of cameras was listed with the NVR model not hidden in an obscure hard to find location.

Swann 8 Channel 5mp Nvr system

This is my second Swann security camera system. The network adapter no longer worked and could not remote view. Against my better judgement, i purchased another Swann system to replace the first one. I only had the new one two weeks and the NVR would no loger power on. I would search for other products before giving any thought to Swann products.
