Started right up

Decided to get a generator after losing our freezer and refrigerator food during a 5 day power outage. Compared a lot of them and found the Westinghouse iGen 4500DF to be the best bang for my buck. It was out of stock for a few weeks so I guess a lot of other people think so too. As soon as I was notified it was in stock I placed the order and I had it within 4 days. Hooked up the battery, poured in the oil and gas and connected a propane tank then turned the battery on and hit start on the remote and viola! It purrs! Plugged in both fridge and chest freezer and both compressors kicked on no problem. Switched from gas to propane on the fly and it didn't miss a beat. The multi digital display is handy however I was puzzled by the power read outs, as they seemed a little off though it didn't affect the performance of the unit. Also, grounding of the unit is mentioned in the manual but it's ambiguous. Of the few videos I watched by independent users, it's not even an issue. Overall, very pleased with it. Bring on the next storm!

Easy setup

purchased this as a home backup. I have only had the generator for an hour or so and so far I am impressed. The only negative so far is adding the oil for the initial setup. Do not add the entire bottle of oil! I was under the assumption it was like anything you buy in that they provide an adequate amount of oil...guess that's what I get for assuming

Lives up to all I read about it.

Received promptly and in good condition. Read instructions and prepped for starting with propane. Cranked immediately with remote fob and ran on both ‘eco' and full power for long period. Well designed user interface panel and placement of oil/air filter/battery access area. Also well designed collapsible handle for pulling on four or two wheels - nice design idea. Ohhh! And quiet.

Great Generator - Extremely Quiet and Easy to Use

We have been researching multiple generators and we continued to come back to the iGen4500DF. We could not be happier with the purchase, it started right up and provides great power as a backup to our home. It is great that this particular model can use both propane and gasoline.

Works like a Charm!

Was going back and forth between a conventional and inverter generator and so glad I went with the inverter. Generator is super quiet and has a ton of power to run the house essentials when I need it to. Electric start is awesome and the low THD is awesome for my smaller electronics. Worth every penny in my opinion!

Great little generator

I bought this unit despite some negative reviews about the automatic choke issue that some have experienced. Mine was perfect and I am extremely happy that it is running as expected. It's relatively quiet, and the setup was simple. I was glad I did some reading before adding the oil because it does not need the whole bottle and causes issues if overfilled. I decided to go the LP route to avoid having to mess with gasoline and the storage issues that go with it, but it's nice to have the option to use gas if needed. I am currently 4 hours into the break-in procedure and have been alternately powering multiple different items to vary the load during that time: full-size refrigerator/freezer, medium size upright freezer, large LED TV, and a lamp. I did have to invest in a few other items like a 30A extension cord, a Gen-Tent, and an adapter for the 30A receptacle on the unit. We have lost food twice this year to power outages, so this will give us some peace of mind to be able to keep some lights on and the food cold when it happens again.

A go straight out of the box!

I purchased this last month for the summer. Thought I would get it ready and running although I don't need it until April for my trailer. Followed the simple instructions, added oil and connected the battery and the propane hose and regulator. I took three try's to start as the propane needed to make its way to the unit, started and ran just fine. Off to a great start. If you are not mechanically inclined you still would have no problems unboxing and starting the unit. Beautiful, quiet and so easy to use. The remote start is key! Love it!

Perfect Size for My Needs

Have completed setup (was easy) and 5 hours of break-in run time, powering a variety of fans, lights, and portable heater as test items. All worked well. So far, I am happy overall with this purchase. It is the right size and power for my needs (backup home power). Love that I can use either gas or propane. It started on very first push of electric start button on both fuels. It is relatively quiet. I can hear my neighbors non-inverter gen more than I can hear my own. And I I love that they included a battery charger, since it will sit unused a lot of the time. If I had complaints or suggestions for improvement, they would be: 1) as reported by other users, adding the entire bottle of provided oil as stated in instructions overfills the engine and you'll get oil running back out the fill plug. 2) while the electric start worked flawlessly, the manual pull method took many pulls to get engine to fire, 3) it doesn't run smoothly in Efficiency Mode on propane at low RPM. Once load is increased or Efficiency Mode turned off then it smooths out. 4) the LED Data Center display of fuel level doesn't work so far. With either gas in tank or propane attached, the Fuel Level and Remaining Run Time both always displayed zero, no matter the actual fuel level. Power output, voltage, and lifetime hours all display accurately. 5) I wish they would include a TT-30 to 5-15 or 5-20 adapter, so the RV-Ready outlet could easily also be used in the home right out of the box.

Very Nice Generator!

After ordering this we had to wait almost a month for a backorder to come in but are very satisfied with the Generator now that we have it!! It seems easy to use and after a few hours of low use to break it in, seems to start and run on either propane or gas, the 13500BTU air conditioner on our camper with no problem!! So far, extremely satisified with the product and would recommend it to a friend!

IGen4500DF

Features I like are the extending handle and large wheels to make it easier to maneuver. Starts easily and panel is easy to read. Instructions are not consistent. One section says to not change fuel source while running and another section gives instructions on how to switch fuel source while running. Still in the break-in period. Decibel meter shows 67 on eco mode. Thought it would be less than 60. Instructions say to empty entire bottle of oil in crankcase, but that overfilled it. Not 100% happy with this generator just yet.
