Powerful clean option inverter generator

Purchased for the occasional troubling emergency usage. Dual fuel only intended for propane use. All parts came as described. Subtracted one star because the battery does not maintain charge and requires trickle charging. Not sure why since it did run for a few hours, but start up a week later had to do the charge of the battery. Also took off because the peg legs are burdensome is 187 pounds and quite heavy to roll. Four wheels much better option. Otherwise, started it up properly runs relatively quietly can take gasoline as well as propane, puts out adequate amount of wattage to run my entire house. I have adapted a whole house transfer switch to the breaker box and a line from the main propane feed to the generator to replace the portable so I never have to worry about running out of fuel. Unable to comment further until need to put it to actual use.

First Operating Review

I wrote my unpacking review a month ago, and now I've completed my first break-in operation. After checking the oil - just to make sure - and connecting the battery and filling the tank with gas that was treated with Sta-Bil, I rolled it out into the driveway. I decided to try using the remote fob, and it started right up. It ran a little rough at first, but I realized I had it in Eco mode, so I switched that off and it smoothed right out. I let it run for 30 minutes, and plan to do that every month until I get through the 5 hour break-in, then change the oil. I was very impressed by how smooth it ran and how quiet it was. After I shut it down, I plugged in the battery tender that came with it to make sure the battery stays in good shape. I am still very happy with my purchase.

Good value

Based on older reviews, earlier iterations of the iGen4000/4500 seem to have had issues with the cable connecting the choke to the back of the control panel shaking loose during transport as well as the oil fill hole being very difficult to access behind the blue plastic casing. I didn't have a problem with the cable being disconnected and they've redesigned the access on the iGen4000 making oil changes a breeze. First, the side panels can be popped off without requiring a screw driver and the oil fill hole is unobstructed. It now has a little spout and dish for catching small spills and the generator comes with a flexible funnel that screws directly into the oil fill hole. Filling and draining are no longer such a mess. I bought this generator in large part because of the dual fuel option and have so far only tried running it on propane. It started up easily using the instructions in the user manual, powers what I need it to, it's not too loud, not too heavy for one person to manage, and it's really easy to maneuver with the wheels. All in all I'm satisfied with my choice and would recommend the generator.

Mobile RV Power

We bought this to power a mobile medical unit turned camper. We needed enough power to run a rooftop AC, microwave, TV, small hot water heater, lights, and battery chargers. The product arrived in great shape. I unboxed and assembled it with the included tools with ease. Followed the instructions for adding oil, connecting the battery and hooking it up to a propane cylinder. 1st start was no problem and it was much quieter that I expected. I powered up some things inside (including the AC) and was amazed that it did not seem to phase this inverter generator at all! Good purchase that we hope will last many years.

Great product.

I purchased this to replace a conventional generator I owned that was used to run my whole house minus air conditioner during the frequent power outages we are having. The new generator being an inverter is working better with my sensitive electronics and has had no issue running everything in my house. I would strongly recommend this product to anyone who has sensitive electronics that they would like to run off of a generator.

Almost perfect

I received inverter 2 days ago and set it up and ran today using propane. Setup was fairly straightforward. All needed tools were supplied. I needed help to tilt inverter to install feet and wheels. The oil funnel is functional but does not thread as anticipated. I had an issue with startup because I mistakenly set fuel selector switch to Blue (gas) instead of Green (propane). (Propane setting was Blue on my old Firman generator.)

A true power house

I recently bought this to be prepared for any upcoming power outages. My home is wired with a 50-amp plug, so all I needed to purchase was the correct power cord. I went ahead and did a test run—after turning on all the main outlets and lighting, including two fridges and a freezer, I was only at around 25% power draw. I even tested running the water heater with the well pump, and it only jumped up to about 70%. The Eco mode seems to work as advertised, and the generator adjusts its power output based on the load draw. Having used a traditional generator with extension cords before, this setup is much more efficient and runs significantly quieter. I plan to use propane primarily to avoid concerns about gas buildup in the system, especially since ethanol-free gas isn't easy to find. Overall, I think the price is appropriate for the features and the clean energy it provides for my home.

High output inverter with great features

This high output portable generator/inverter was just what I needed to set up a whole house backup power system for a 100 amp service panel with an automatic transfer switch. The total cost was one third the quoted price of a big name whole house system. The big name system also required an expensive service contract to validate their extended warranty coverage. The iGen came delivered on a pallet in a very sturdy box with absolutely no damage. The unpacking and setup documentation was first rate and very accurately matched the unit which made it easy to follow. Everything you need for setup is included, the hardware was of very good quality, and even the wrenches and oil were included. After adding fuel, the unit started and ran with no issues. All displays and switches worked flawlessly and were easy to understand. The unit is quieter with a light load than I suspected it would be, which is a pleasant surprise. Thank you Westinghouse for building a quality product.

Love this inverter generator

I had a Coleman 4000 generator for 25+ years, figured it was time for an upgrade. I chose the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc, Wow! huge power to run my entire home, very quiet, electric start, I run on propane, so no messy smelly gasoline. I love the style, color and features of this model. Everything I need and more in a compact package.

Best Generator Ever

I really like this iGen4500DFcv inverter dual fuel generator. Setup was very easy to follow. I used LPG instead of gasoline. Started after the 3rd pull. Ran the unit for 5 hours and changed the oil. The oil condition was as expected. Still somewhat clear but no huge amount of shavings or glitter. Ran for another 20 hours using it off and on keeping food safe. The oil change is messy just dumping the old oil inside the cover so it could go out a drain hole. Better design or drain hose would be nice. Unit was not very loud at 30 to 40 percent load. Liked the ECO mode as it saves fuel and is quieter. The face controls tell you everthing you need to know. Overall would recommend this generator to anybody.
