- 5 out of 5 stars review3/19/2020Easy start-up, works great, remote start works great, great features like digital display power and fuel usage, love compact size and operationally quiet. I just purchased so haven't put it to a great test as of yet. But so far, it looks and operates great out of the box.
Great features!
suredogOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/29/2023I just purchased the iGen4500DF because of the features, duel fuel, and remote start! Can't wait to be in my trailer on a chilly evening and be able to start my generator from inside! This little baby was packed well and came undamaged! Instructions are well laid out down to when you should complete general maintenance. All items were accounted for in the box and can we talk about the extended handle for easy moving!
Remote Start!
Athena15Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/25/2024I have not put a large load on the generator. However, The generator was packaged well, it came with everything needed, other than fuel. I tested all functions of starting with both fuel types. Starts right up and is quiet. I plugged a few item in to make sure it was working properly. So far so good!
Works great
James287Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review1/4/2023I purchased this in July of 2022. Started right up - right out of the box. Will admit that the oil fill location is a bit hard to navigate. Made a mess trying to fill. Have used on some light duty activities - works great. Have connected to my camper - will run all appliances and the AC unit and only works the genset at about 40%. Has been a little hard starting in cold weather - but not an issue. Did a good bit of research to find something that was quiet when running next to the camper. You barely hear this. In fact the AC on the camper makes more noise. At 10 feet away - about 65db. Would definitely recommend this unit. Oh and great to have the pull handle to maneuver around
4500 - Dual Fuel Genset
cunninghammcOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/3/2021The generator was easy to set up and get running. It worked well for us when they had to shut our power off to upgrade our breaker box. It started right away and didn't have any issues. We ended up having to run it for about 10 hours, and it hummed along nicely. The noise level was nice, and was barely audible through our closed back door about 15 feet into our back yard. We plan to use this mainly for camping, but also for backup power for our fridge in the event of a power outage. It so far has worked nicely for us.
Nice generator
joyofsaxOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/13/2023Was looking for an inverter generator for my home and my fifth wheel RV. The Westinghouse iGen4500Dfc is perfect. It is big enough to handle a home power outage and powering my RV, yet compact enough to carry in the bed of my truck when on the road. Plus, it is amazingly quiet and dual fuel. Easy to setup and get running right out of the box. Love the performance monitor built into the front panel. Have not used the remote yet, but it is just another great feature of all the great features for the price of this generator.
Awesome and Very Quiet
myoung1977Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/4/20214.5 Stars. This extremely quiet. My car engine is louder than this thing when idling. Running off of propane makes for an extremely clean burn. Even though the generator can use gasoline, I have no intention of using it with anything other than propane. The only issue I found was with the generator in **Economy Mode** when running at under 700 watts: Occasionally the power would drop out for about 1/10th a second every 10-20 minutes or so, which can, but not always, cause desktop computers to reboot that aren't on a UPS unit (laptops won't need this). Even though the inverter should supply clean power, is is still a very good idea have your electronics on a surge suppressor/UPS when on a generator. The youngster in the house failed t...
Very quiet! Desktop computers will need UPS
Douglas MOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review5/25/2021I originally purchased the gas version. I has a display problem right out of the gate. I took it back and ordered the Dual Fuel. I had to wait for 6 weeks to get it, but I'm glad I did. This unit came well packaged and just about ready to roll. Connect the battery, add oil and gas (propane or gas) and your done. The only complaint I have is the oil. It comes with a nice fill spout but..... I know every unit is test run and requires oil for that. But, you should make sure to drain all oil. I had a bit of a over flow problem and it made a mess. Did not know I was over filling until I removed the oil fill tube. Not the end of the world but none the less a pain to clean up.
Awesome affordable generator and SUPER quiet
jbrethOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review12/27/2023Well packaged. The manual is very detailed. It even shows you how to measure the rocker arm clearance. Detailed wiring schematics. I have not yet had a chance to run the generator but have inspected the item. Will update after I run through the break-in phase.
Solid product. Detailed manual
BigfootbuiltOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review10/17/2021We purchased this unit to power our RV/Ice Fishing House combo with a 30 amp outlet. I was really excited to find a unit that ran on both gas / propane AND had a remote start for the cold mornings out on the ice! So far, I've put about 5 hours on the unit during the break-in procedure (so note -- there is a break in process -- read the directions!). Unit starts easily with electric starter, chain pull, or via remote and powers my RV/Ice House without issue (AC, microwave, TV, etc at same time). Switching from gas to propane is simple and can be done without shutting the unit down (if you already have propane connected). I didn't notice any change in performance switching across fuels. I've never owned a generator before, but the noise...
So far so good
JDfromMNOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review5/15/2023I ordered this generator recently and was received quickly. Ran it and was very quiet and easy to operate. We will use it primarily camping boondocking and at places without power hook up like Cades Cove TN . We will be there in August. Glad to have it.
Great features
GuynpowerOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review9/16/2019Exactly what I needed for Dry Camping in the mountains, this generator will run my 13,500 BTU A/C and my Fast Battery Chargers to keep my batteries topped off during daylight hours and allow for quite nights using the battery inverter's to watch satellite TV. And for those rainy days comes with remote and can run on propane in case of an emergency.
Perfect Size Travel Trailer Quite Generator
jim52Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review6/16/2021I was in the market for a generator to power my travel trailer A/C and this couldn't be more perfect. Not only will it easily power my A/C, but it allows me to not have to worry about using other AC appliances while it's running. It's also very quiet and I know I won't be bothering anyone that I'm camping near.
Quiet and powerful
BaumatOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review5/2/2024Bought this unit for my travel trailer and home emergencies. The unit feels very solid and well built. It's noise level is better than I expected. I like all of the features and the meter display is nice, so there's no guessing when to change the oil and other routine services. Very complete package with great manuals. Haven't taken it boon-docking yet and I'm excited to use it Great warranty compared to other makes.
Very solid machine
KaniksumanOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review3/6/2020Just set it up and extremely pleased. Added oil and attached the LP tank and fired right up. Will need to break it in but very happy that after a couple of slow pulls, the generator fired up and ran smoothly. We live in an area with intermittent power outages and we run numerous network peripherals that need to stay up and running.
Power where I need it
WhiteWolfEntOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/25/2022I bought this generator a little over a month ago and have had zero issues with it so far. It was super nice and it came with all the attachments needed to runoff of propane out of the box. It was also nice that it came with the oil and the funnel to put the oil in as well. It also came with a handful of tools and the remote already ready to roll right out of the box. I have only owned it for a month so I can't give much information on durability or lifespan but so far it seems like a solid built product.
So far so good
JLarkEEOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/22/2023I own two of these units. The remote start is super handy. I also have mine rigged up with a SwitchBot remote control switch. This lets me "push the button" from anywhere in the world connected to the internet. Very handy since the generator is part of my backup power for my off-grid system.
Remote Pushbutton Start is Great
lazydragonOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review12/10/2022I just received the iGen 4500w Dual Fuel generator and unboxed it. No damage, in perfect condition. Made in Vietnam. The written instructions are well done and up to expected grammar standards. All maintenance panels are easy to remove. Connecting the battery was a bit of a challenge for my man hands but eventually got that done. Based on the weight of the generator, I'm glad they provide a collapsible airport-luggage style handle, makes moving a breeze. Warranty registration can be done online. I bought this large home generator for peace of mind. I'll do the engine break-in and change the oil. Other than that, This will be a "Break Glass in Case of Emergency" item and I plan on only using propane for fuel. I think this will...
Unboxing and initial setup went smoothly
PluutoOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/15/2021We bought this Generator for boondocking while camping in our Casita Trailer. It got to us WAY quicker than expected. I was extremely well packed for shipping. It arrived fully assemble. Just add oil and gas, oh, and plug in the remote start battery. Only problem is one that probably can't be fixed.... the weight..... about 100 lbs. very quiet. I would highly recommend ..... I do NOT regret this purchase......
Very Well Built!
EricATXOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review8/9/2024The only negative are a plastic oil dipstick and a hole that is a little small and hard to get your hand in there. Also I tried to take the cover off and one of the screws stripped right off the bat. It did run my refrigerator and air conditioner.
Easy Setup and started right up.
