Our 13-year-old daughter brought this game to a sleepover with five of her friends, and she said they all absolutely loved it. They played for hours! All the girls are avid readers and really enjoyed the "Poetry for Neanderthals" part of the game, where you have to guess a word based on one-syllable clues. If someone guesses wrong, they get playfully whacked with the inflatable stick (included). This fun and creative word game is made by Exploding Kittens, and the concept is simple: “Speak Good or Get Hit with Stick.” The game comes with playing cards, score trackers placemats, a sand timer, an inflatable club, and even a patch kit for any accidental damage.

I have played this game many times with my brother’s family since the pandemic and have always enjoyed how hilarious fun and easy it is to play! We have really enjoyed the use of Grok’s Love Sad poetry cards where we insert some of the words we have won into empty spots in several different preformed Neanderthal poems. This year I was gifted my very own box but was disappointed to find the poetry cards were missing. I really liked how those made the “Poetry for Neanderthals” game play out the poetry part of it. I would still recommend this game, but am personally missing the Grok cards. ::In gravelly and grunt Neanderthal voice:: “Sad Time”. -Amy

Got this game for the family or just for the kids to play. We had borrowed a version at our library and liked it enough to purchase our own set. Unfortunately, the newer version doesn’t come with a sand timer. It’s not the same to play with a phone timer unless you download a good visual for the countdown. I don’t want the kids to play using my phone so we’ll have to buy an egg timer or something which feels like a ridiculous hassle. This is the first time I’ve seen a game intentionally not include all needed pieces. If you can find the original version, I recommend it!

We love this game but from the first second we played the game, the bat started leaking air. The game comes with a patch, but it is leaking from the seam where you cannot patch. Now, we have to reinflate the bat every other turn and it's really annoying. Of course you can play without a bat, but the bat really adds to the fun of the game. I wish there was a way to get a replacement bat, because then I would change this review to 5 stars.

Such an amazing party game for all ages, But the bat broke at the seam where it cannot be patched. If a replacement bat can be acquired i would love that because the game just isnt the same without it.
