Not as good as they used to make them

Not very sturdy even with screws. Not safe for my little 2 year old, she can be injured if it breaks on her. I bought same kitchen set, 8 years ago for my oldest. I assumed this would be just as great this time around as it was for my eldest, not the case. Sometimes companies try to remodel kid toys to make it look new, or better, it seems they screwed this kitchen set up. Older set from 8 years is actually sturdier and last longer.

Worth the search

I've looked all over for a substantial play kitchen. Very satisfied. Easy to put together as it is built solid. Only problem we had was that we could not open the telephone or burner as the screw heads were so tiny and deep in. Oh well, we can do without the batteries. My 2 year old Great granddaughter just loves it, as does the 4 year old twin boys.

a little disappointed

Was discouraged to not see any instructions (I went onto to Step2 web site to get and print these), and did not received ANY of the stickers/decals. I was thankful that I had a drill handy that I could use but went out and purchased a power screwdriver. Also was missing a couple of other things and some of the screws. Will call Step2 on Monday morning to get these items, hopefully. Even as disappointed as I was when my 3 year old granddaughter saw it her eyes lit up and started to play with it immediately. Hoping that she will want to play with this for a long time.

Great Product!

Great product for the price. I researched tonz of kitchens and this one is definitely the best one for the price. I wanted one that wasn't so little baby looking so that my baby could enjoy when she is older as well. I also wanted a kitchen with lots of doors and drawers because they love putting things in and out when they are little more than doing the pretend play. I also liked it because it was really, really easy to assemble. I was to anxious to get it together so my little girl could play with it that I didn't wait for my husband to do it. I did it myself! I talked to a friend while researching for this product and she said that her little girl's kitchen took her husband over 2 hrs to put together. It only took me about 40 minutes! My little girl loves her kitchen and that makes me really happy!

We LOVE this product

After much research, we recently gave this kitchen to our 2-year-old son, and we all LOVE it. It has already generated hours and hours of fun. This product comes with the following extras: two bowls, two plates, two spoons, two knives, two special pans with lids (one sizzles, one boils- even making the sound of water hitting the burner!), two cups, one phone (which also generates sound), and salt & pepper shakers. (You will need to buy food.) We chose this product for a number of reasons: - It provides just the right amount of sounds. We wanted to have some sound effects, but not so many that it inhibited creativity. This has the perfect combo. - The doors to the appliances open like real appliances-- unlike other toy kitchen sets we looked at. - It is sturdy and a good height. He won't outgrow it for a while. - There is plenty of storage space (three drawers and a cabinet- plus the refrigerator), good counter space, and the cutest little dish shelf. Other kitchen sets offered extras such as dishwashers, but nothing in this range offered the same amount of counter and storage space. It really helps make it feel like a real kitchen. The only cons: - I wish it had a full-sized refrigerator, but most kitchen sets don't. And I knew that when I bought it, so I can't really complain! - The "magic" burner which generates the sounds doesn't sit quite level. But it doesn't inhibit play, and our son hasn't noticed at all. It did take my husband about an hour to put it together (with stickers), but he actually said he enjoyed putting this toy together. All in all, we are thrilled with this kitchen set and know we made the right decision. It was well worth the money to hear my son yell while he is cooking, "I did it!" You can't go wrong with this kitchen!

Great Kitchen

I was a little unsure buying this for my 6 year old daughter because I thought she was too old for it. But she had been asking for it so I gave it a shot. I think it was a great value around the holiday; this one came with the food set as well, which saved me some $ not having to buy that separately. It took me an hour or so to put together. I would have given up putting it together if I hadn't had an electric screw driver - it's a must when putting this together! My daughter loves the kitchen. It's sturdy and all of the doors open and close great. No complaints at all.

Wonderful Choice.

Both my son and daughter enjoy playing with it. All the knobs, functions are excellent. Its much more engaging with the cooking, microwave sounds, etc.Safe with kids and unlike few reviews, had no problem with the doors. You need some extra muscle while screwing (you basically would have drive a screw through the plastic) it together though. But nothing too difficult.

Excellent Kitchen & Value!

This was the best Christmas gift my 19 mo son got! He loves it and plays with it relentlessly throughout the day. Now he can play with his own kitchen instead of poking around our real one! For the price, you cannot beat this kitchen. The pots/ pans that "sizzle" are awesome! The basic utensils and plates/ pots that come are great and I ended up supplementing with some fake food to cook with. Considering you dont want to spend a ton of $ on these toys that may last only for so long, this Lifestyle kitchen exceeded my expectations. It was not that difficult to put together either.

Wonderful little kitchen

Got this kitchen for my almost 2 yr old for christmas and she absolutely loves it. It's a good size to have in a shared bedroom and was not terribly hard to assemble according to my husband. He even got all the stickers in the right place! It has enough dishes to serve "lunch" to mommy and daddy. We believe in true pretend food though so we didnt get the set of play food that mommy would have had to gather from under beds and couches. Overall I like the size, sturdiness, and value of this kitchen.
