The crumb tray sits very close to the heating elements. I have had interrnal fire start from random crumbs falling onto the tray. I also have noticed electrical arcing occur when moisture from defrosting items falls onto the tray. Kitchenaid support says to only use the oven with a tray to prevent crumbs and moisture from falling onto crumb tray. Mine is headed for the trash

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love all the features of this “convection “ compact oven including all of the shelf adjustments, the controls for toasting and timer for baking! The size of the oven is just right and we are baking more items than we did with a previous compact oven. It saves on energy rather heating up our regular oven.

I bought this toaster/oven a few weeks ago. So far so good. I have one observation and one concern: 1. It toasts slowly, and seems unable to give a really dark result. One may need to add more toasting time after the bell for additional color. 2. It smells. I'd seen other owners comment on the odor burn in time... Ours continues to emit considerable odor if it gets well-heated (smells like wire insulation getting cooked). To assuage my own curiosity, I got bold and opened the unit. The attached photo shows the insulation used on top -- with some of it turning darkened. It also wreaks of the very hot insulation smell. The insulation appears not to be FiberGlass -- but some synthetic fiber. I'm going to look into replacing that with true FiberGlass (after I check for the thermal tolerance of the substitute material).

My husband purchased this product for me for Christmas 2017. The product lasted only 1 year and 2 months. I was extremely disappointed as I was expecting a longer life out of this appliance. I have several KitchenAid products. One particular product I have had for at least 15 years. It was a good counter top oven while it lasted, but good luck getting two years of life out of an expensive product. I am researching another compact oven from another manufacturer. Hopefully I will get a longer lifespan from my next one.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter and I purchased this oven in early December, 2018 and it lives up to everything we were looking for in a toaster oven. The ease of use for this oven is so much better then the other brand (I won't mention the brand here) we returned, before we purchased this one, that I don't know why we didn't get this one first! No complicated instructions are necessary and it does exactly what it says it will do. We make baked potatoes, both russets and sweets, broil small lobster tails, bake salmon and other fish in it, great for reheating foods, and keeping food warm til ready to eat and it makes toast just right! There is not much more I can say except if you are in the market for a toaster oven that is easy to use and lives up to performance, this is a great buy at a great price!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our latest oven was a replacement for one the failed before the year warranted expired. We like the features of the model so took the replacement. This latest one has rattled in the door which we have been able to correct by slightly bending the guide on the left side of the door. It's the small things that seem to go wrong. The previous one developed a bad vibration in the fan which was terribly noisy and never went away! Another one had a dial freeze up 6 weeks past the year warranty. We were stuck with that one but tried the same model again! So this newest one is our 3rd!!! Hopefully things will be better this time!!

Just bought this as a replacement. Attractive design, great size but the toaster ticks like an egg timer and the setting has to be on dark to make any progress in toasting. What the heck? $130 and this is what you get. Not sure we'll keep it. Disappointed.

Though we have had this oven for a short time it is fast becoming our main oven and toaster. From baggles to pizza the oven performs excellently. If you are in the market for a compact convection oven, do not hesitate to purchase this oven.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased for my wife at Christmas. She likes to use the smaller oven rather than the big one for smaller meals, makes sense. The old G.E. was getting scary, and needed to be replaced. My only complaint which I haven't proven yet is that this product doesn't seem to get to max. temperature, for broiling. Otherwise we both are enjoying it.

I bought this toaster oven in November 2018 and the only thing that still works is the toaster feature. Bake, warm and broil does not work any more. I loved it when it was working but the warranty is expired and now I am stuck having to replace after only a year of use. All of the appliances in my kitchen are Kitchenaid and I have had issues with both my gas range and now this. So annoying but I will not buy KitchenAid again.
