This Unit is Fantastic!

I originally purchased the GP5500 unit, but traded it in for this GP7500E. The electric start is prefect. I set up the unit in no time and I had my wife come down to start it for the first time. She simply pushed the start button and it fired up. It actually runs quieter than other generators in the neighborhood. I would derfinitely recommend this unit to anyone, and I have. You can't beat the features for the price.

Hurricane Power source

During the recent power outage caused by Hurricane Sandy we used our GP7500E to power our entire home through a transfer switch. Refridgerators ( 2) , sump pump, Fan for gas heat, lighting, bathrooms , TV, kitchen appliances all working no problem. Unit ran 12-15 hours a day for 7 days. Changed oil at 32 hours then every 50 hours after that. Great unit. Purchased unit during the summer and this was the first big tryout. It passed with flying colors.

Saved our Christmas!

We were in the Michigan Ice Storm of December 22, 2013. Our yard looked like a war zone when it was over, trees pulled our power lines to the ground. I bought this generator on Monday the 23rd and got it running and hooked up to my fridge, freezer and furnace and several lights in no time at all, very easy to set up and run. It ran flawlessly for four whole days and nights, it would run 12-14 hours on a tank of gas. So glad I bought this, we enjoyed our Christmas with family, even though we did not have power to our house. Buy this generator, it will run your whole house!

Good planning will bring a good installation experience

We had three installation quotes and they were all very different configurations. Not many installers know the large portable set up. took longer than anticipated, and research. Once we reviewed the steps it was very easy. Moving to desired location also took planning as this is 450lbs. Good idea to have a battery charger on hand, we needed to charge the battery.

Good product, easy to set up and use but heavy and hard to move on any incline.

My generator arrived quickly as was easy to put together. It has worked well and more than met our needs. However, it is very heavy and hard to move. Our driveway has a slight incline to it. The weight plus the small tires, which are tubeless and hard to keep inflated or replace, makes it almost impossible for my wife to move out of the garage to use. Also, be sure you keep your battery charged. That said, I'd buy another one.

I recommend this product

The generator is easy to use and to move around. The portability makes it useful in a number of different situations. The generator is a bit noisier than I would like, however, the convenience and ease of use out weighs this distraction. Should we experience another hurricane, we will be quite comfortable and safe. We plan to have this wired into our system so that our whole house will have power in the event of an extended outage.

Changing of the guard

We have been running our old 15KW Generac Guardian Ultra-source gasoline generator for the past decade to power our home during after hurricane power outages. The Generac has always been dependable. ( Be on notice however, if there are huge amounts of ethanol in gasoline, the unit WILL NOT RUN. A thing that may or may not be an issue after a hurricane ). We only run non-ethanol as a standard with fuel treatment, bolster your reserves. With standard maintenance (oil, plugs, filters, battery,,,) and running for 30 minutes+ every month, it has aways been “at the ready”. After 10 years, we are pulling the 15KW from service to rebuild the unit and it will be a backup. The 15KW would run 1 of 2 Central Vac systems, the heavy amp draw well pump, kitchen, home theater, lights, water heater, etc,,. Naturally we can shut subsystems off to conserve fuel. We do have our property in the swamps of Florida, 2 miles from the main road, so we are the last place where propane will be delivered after an event of a hurricane or other crazy events, that is why we chose gasoline. We purchased the new Generac 17500 and was delivered yesterday. At unboxing, we realized that the wheel axle was missing. Fortunately we had our existing 15KW and we had a working axel to maneuver the new 17.5 Generac through the landscaping into position. I thought, “here we go!”. I called Generac Support the next morning and “Bam”! The support rep was an English Speaking American in the States (Chris) and the part is on its way,,, UPS! 15 minutes of may time, done! Wow! It's a bummer that my new purchase was missing a part, but I am surprised at the quick phone pickup with a fix! We will see how the new Generac performs, as it is expected to a active hurricane summer in Florida, The El'Nino weather effect is drifting away again.

GP series Generac

Great Looking Unit! The electric start is why I chose this unit. I installed the wheels, handle, put the oil in & connected the SUPPLIED BATTERY, put the gas in, hit the start button and it started right up. No more pulling the rope for this old guy! It does have a backup pull rope by the way. The unit even comes with charger to keep the battery charged also when not in use. Didn't see that with the other ones out there. This is a great generator and I'm glad I bought this one!

Exactly what I wanted and needed.

I bought this to replace a generator I've had since 1999. It was a 5500 kw and was very basic. It worked ok but was not powerful enough. I need one with more power and extra startup power. Also needed some safety features. The GP 6500 w/8175 startup power fit the bill perfectly. I had it 1 week and had 3 break-in hours on it and we had a storm go through that knocked the power out. I ran the GP6500 for 19 hours straight and it performed exactly as I had hoped. It always starts on the 1st or 2nd pull. Excellent purchase.

Solid Heavy Unit

I bought this unit last year to run my new 24 ft. concessions trailer G-Dub's Grub which I opened 2 weeks ago. I have worked 2 large events with 20 hrs on meter. It runs the 30 amp service easily-- lights, water heater, water pump, fridge etc. All filters, oil drain, spark plug easy to get to, which is a big reason why I bought it. Getting ready to change to Mobil 1 10W-30 synthetic w/ extra Generac filter sent with unit. I use 89 grade non-ethanol fuel. Multiple power options here folks. Heavy USA made unit. My problem with this unit is it's too heavy for me and staff (female) to handle 390 lbs. Overkill on my part. Just bought extended warranty plan last month. Weighing my options.
