WASTE OF MONEY!!!!

So I bought this for my husband on black Friday, we already had what we thought was the same shelf already and thought we were getting a deal. Well we were WRONG ! The shelves are made of particle board and when we were putting them on the shelving unit, it BROKE, somehow the description states that it will hold: Specifications 800 lb. Shelf capacity Can be assembled vertically or horizontally as a workbench Shelves adjust in 1-1/2" increments Assembles in minutes, no nuts and bolts required Attractive black finish This is worthless!!! There is no way that this shelf can hold 800lbs!!! I want my money back, if I would have know that this is what is I was ordering I would have have paid $20 more and got the REAL shelf that really can hold 800 lbs. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!

Quick shelving

Fairly quick shelving. Make sure you put it together where you plan to keep it because it doesn't move easily without coming apart. I got three sets and two sets had thin particle board shelves while the other had MDF shelving of the same thickness. The MDF seems stronger but neither appears to support heavy items, bending in the middle slightly.

Edsal 48"W x 24"D x 72"H 5-Shelf Steel Shelving,

Assembled unit is a bit flimsy, and will require the addition of diagonal bracing. In retrospect, the same-size Edsal unit sold by one of the large building supply stores might be a better buy, and be more attractive, although some $30 more expensive.

Missing Essential Parts

I'm sure the shelving will be fine when finished, and it is easy enough to assemble, but to add the top levels you need parts that were not included (post couplers). I had to contact Edsel. They are sending the missing parts at no charge, but it seems like a pretty significant error. Now I have to put everything back in the closet until I can finish the shelves. :(

Beware of missing parts

I ordered 3 of the 2*4*6 and 2 of the 18"*4*6 and only 1 out of them all came with the coupling brackets needed to connect the two 3 foot long pieces to make them 6 foot tall. There is supposed to be 4 of these brackets per shelf unit to assemble. Being in a wheelchair there is no way I can return these so I'm just out of luck.

OK Shelving........

I have had 4 sets of these shelves for a few years now and will say for basement/garage storage they are adequate. Over time I replaced all of the cheap thin press board shelves with 3/4" plywood because they all sagged in the middle and they are way more sturdy now. You get what you pay for.

stabilizing brackets no longer shipped

I bought the same shelving 6 months ago. Since then, the manufacturer cheaply has stopped shipping it with brackets joining the vertical corner bars. You now have to set the middle shelf exactly in the middle to connect the vertical bars. The rack becomes unstable and dangerous if you try to move it, given the horizontal bars don't stay in place.

No center brackets supplied.

My silver veined shelves all came with brackets to keep the center shelves together. These did not. I will be contacting the company and if they are supplied I will adjust my review. If they do not I will be returning these. I don't think that these are secure only being hooked together by a shelf. Also it severely limits where I put the shelves as I would have to have a shelf in the middle. Which I don't want. The pictures show a bracket and I feel they should have been supplied. Very disappointing.

Poor imitation of Costco.

I bought the identical size and style of shelf from Costco a couple months before I purchased these shelves. Costco was all out of stock so I thought these would be made the same. They are not. The metal is thinner and instead of a metal shelf insert, these were 3/8" thin particle board. I will have to attach a piece of metal to the middle for support.
