I love the rack but I do have a problem with the low budget boards! I wouldn't call them muscle at all. They seem to be holding for now but I give them about two months before they warp and my stuff falls right off. Although the metal seems flimsy when I put it together it seems very strong to me. I wouldn't say I put 4000 pounds but I can say I put at least 200 and seems to be holding strong besides the cheap boards. All in all I'm happy with the product! Would I buy it again or recommend it to someone? I can say I would!

The shelves appear to be sturdy. My box also came slightly damaged. But that is not the problem. The legs are not 6 ft long but 2 3ft ones. The 'coupler' (that is not listed on the instruction sheet) was not in my box. So I have 2 - 3ft shelves until I can get some bolts to attach legs on top.

Originally bought this from Lowe's and was super impressed. The ones I purchased from Wal-Mart are made from less sturdy metal, have sharp edges, and at least 3 people are needed to assemble. Will most likely do the job, but not sure the lower cost will be a selling point.

This is a great free standing shelf. Would recommend two people to put together, but totally doable solo. Still trying to figure out how to secure it to the wall. I chose in-store pick up due to all the stories of damaged packaging and missing parts. This way, I would be able to resolve on the spot if possible.

the shelves were made out of particle board. what does that mean? well, in humid areas, that means it will get soft and sink down the middle. also, this means (for me) that it can get moldy depending on your climate. I have a metal garage that was mostly shaded and the sun would warm up the garage door and leave condensation inside; therefore, i got mold. i had to throw everything away and get plywood to replace all the shelves. :-/

delayed shipment. ordered 3. set time aside to assemble. opened them all and started. none had the 4 post connector/joiners in the box ( also not listed int the parts list). Called the number on the directions and they shipped them in 3 days. good shelves, good service. i just think they knew they shipped without all the pieces.

I bought the same shelving 6 months ago. Since then, the manufacturer cheaply has stopped shipping it with brackets joining the vertical corner bars. You now have to set the middle shelf exactly in the middle to connect the vertical bars. The rack becomes unstable and dangerous if you try to move it, given the horizontal bars don't stay in place.

I purchased this item first from my Walmart store. I figure it was a return base on the store not stocking this item. So I ordered another one of the same items on line. It is due in on April 5, 2016. I'm not to happy with this product. I called the manufacturer for some additional parts and they said I would have to call one of their dealers. Well I live 80 miles round trip from the closest dealer for parts. I have a Walmart store local about 6 miles from my home and I'm unable to get part through them.

Shelves are great if your looking to store lighter items, if you are planning to store heavier items these are not for you. I would recommend not putting over 100lbs per shelf and make sure they are properly put together before putting weight on them.

It requires a bit of ingenuity to assemble but once you realize complete assembly it hard to imagine how the top half sits on the bottom half without falling. However, it works well and is strong enough for just about any item that fits on the shelf. I also purchased smaller 18" shelf.
