Quick shelving

Fairly quick shelving. Make sure you put it together where you plan to keep it because it doesn't move easily without coming apart. I got three sets and two sets had thin particle board shelves while the other had MDF shelving of the same thickness. The MDF seems stronger but neither appears to support heavy items, bending in the middle slightly.

Particle board shelves warp under minimal weight

I already had similar shelves in a smaller size (36x16x72) and have always been happy with them. This not so much. With only moderate weight on each shelf, the shelves bowed drastically within just a few months. I probably had a maximum of about 40 lbs (relatively well distributed) on any shelf, which is no where near the stated 800 lbs. I guess I'll be heading to the hardware store for some plywood. Ugh.

very cheap craftsmanship

I got this to store my big gas cans and other heavy items as it states each shelf can support 800lbs. I got it and saw the particle board and was skeptical, but I gave it a try. The particle board busted at around 150-180lbs. If they had a nice plywood, I could see it holding around that. But as is comes, it will not hold the 800lbs.

Horrible they sink in!!

I purchased 6 of these 5 shelve units. although each stipulate several thousand pounds i used these in my spare bedroom for my pantry and toiletries. The heaviest thing being the small bags of tide pods which i put on the bottom shelves... within just a few months (and no nothing got any of them wet or damp) 11 shelves have bowed in making it impossible to even have items stand up.. I have sent several emails to the manufacturer to get a replacement of the shelves or to return the 3 units and not one response! I even sent pictures and videos

Wood shelves bend

I have two layers of canned food on each shelve. As soon as I put the items on the shelves they started to bow or bend down in the center. The descriptions says it holds up to four thousand lbs if distributed evenly. but I have nowhere near that amount of weight on the shelves. I will have to purchase a better quality of wood, cut it and replace the wood that came with this unit.

I would call it muscle racks lol

I love the rack but I do have a problem with the low budget boards! I wouldn't call them muscle at all. They seem to be holding for now but I give them about two months before they warp and my stuff falls right off. Although the metal seems flimsy when I put it together it seems very strong to me. I wouldn't say I put 4000 pounds but I can say I put at least 200 and seems to be holding strong besides the cheap boards. All in all I'm happy with the product! Would I buy it again or recommend it to someone? I can say I would!

not all parts

The shelves appear to be sturdy. My box also came slightly damaged. But that is not the problem. The legs are not 6 ft long but 2 3ft ones. The 'coupler' (that is not listed on the instruction sheet) was not in my box. So I have 2 - 3ft shelves until I can get some bolts to attach legs on top.

Originally bought this from Lowe's and was super impressed. The ones I purchased from Wal-Mart are made from less sturdy metal, have sharp edges, and at least 3 people are needed to assemble. Will most likely do the job, but not sure the lower cost will be a selling point.

Best Bang for Your Buck

This is a great free standing shelf. Would recommend two people to put together, but totally doable solo. Still trying to figure out how to secure it to the wall. I chose in-store pick up due to all the stories of damaged packaging and missing parts. This way, I would be able to resolve on the spot if possible.

too good to be true!

the shelves were made out of particle board. what does that mean? well, in humid areas, that means it will get soft and sink down the middle. also, this means (for me) that it can get moldy depending on your climate. I have a metal garage that was mostly shaded and the sun would warm up the garage door and leave condensation inside; therefore, i got mold. i had to throw everything away and get plywood to replace all the shelves. :-/
