Good image, weak sound, USB functionality lacking

Have been using this for 3 weeks. The worst thing about the TV from my perspective is the fact that playing a movie from USB stick, it is not possibler to resume watching the film where you left off. You must forward through half of the film to get to where you are. Basic function that is missing. Can't connect HDD through USB. Can't shuffle music or pictures through USB. All else is reasonably functional. Not a fan of the OS, it is slow and confusing. Sound is weak so it will need a soundbar. Low refresh rate. Decent otherwise and for the price acceptable in case you were not planning to run anything off USB.

Ok features.

Have had about 2 months. Was very busy and finally set up a couple weeks later. Hard to read screen from a few feet. The remote does not work very good. Sound bottom is almost non responsive. Wish I had done a little more research. Online directions are very vague. As far as I have been able to find apps can not be added. Wish I had purchased non smart version or another brand.

Beautiful picture. Great features. one flaw

This TV was bought for my mother-in-law's space. It seemed great after initial setup, but when she tried to turn it on the next morning, there was no sound. The TV reported "no audio signal." I checked all the connections and eventually unplugged the TV and restarted, and the sound was back. Unfortunately, this was a chronic problem. Some research online confirmed that I wasn't the only person with this problem. Some people who shared their solutions seemed okay with unplugging each time they wanted to watch TV. Others tried other solutions. For convenience's sake, and because it wasn't for me, rather my mother in law, we returned the product to the place of purchase and bought another brand. If it had been for me, I may have experimented a little longer to try to find a solution. I have another Vizio TV, and have not had similar problems.

Great Deal, Great Product

This TV meets just about all of my needs. Great picture, responsive remote and quickly shuffles through screens/apps. Only downside right now is that I cannot download the Disney+ app, but I have read that it will be available at some point in 2020.

A Perfect Fit and High Quality

Today's televisions are HUGE! They're marketed as "bigger is better". However, not everyone needs or wants a television that's six feet wide, mounted above one's fireplace mantel, and showcased like a trophy. We have a television cabinet (actually its a very nicely crafted piece of furniture from the Amish country) that was custom-made for our living room...back when cathode ray tube (CRT) televisions maxed-out around 40" (and weighed 150 pounds). Now a 32"-40" LED is considered a computer monitor! When I was looking for a new 4K HD TV, I was hard pressed to find anything on the market with the quality and features with a "smaller" screen that would fit into our cabinet...until I found the VIZIO V-Series 40" Class 4K HDR Smart TV (V405-G9). This TV has a great picture, it's easy to set-up, and has three (3) HDMI ports...usually TVs of this size only have 2. The remote has a clean and simple design. And the sound quality straight out of the box is good (although I just purchased a VIZIO sound bar/sub-woofer to enhance the overall movie viewing experience). If you want a great television without having to sacrifice picture and sound quality, this is the perfect product for you. Thank you, VIZIO.

Great buy

After my 15 year old flat screen started having problems went looking for something a little bigger and newer. Compared about half a dozen 40" screens and decided on this one. Totally happy with it's clear pic and great sound output...has more features than I can use but still worth it. More importantly, my wife loves it...happy wife, happy life!

Great choice

I bought a V series and it has an outstanding picture and vivid crisp color. 50” was a good size and set up was pretty easy. Between streaming channels and my OTA antenna I have all I need and no bother with cable or satellite TV. Priced great for outstanding quality! Happy overall getting to know Vizio brand.

Worked well for 3 years...

...then it lost video display that showed colored vertical straps that changed and eventually a dark screen. Audio worked and displayed 2 white strips when controlling volume. Had to purchase a replacement. Otherwise, it was OK. BTW, I still have one more that

unable to connect

I was unable to connect to the provider of my services via high speed . It wouldn't elt me down load the needed program. I had two people come over and try it that knew how to do it. Even calling Vizio for help didn't do it so returned it to store. Purchased something else that has me connected.

Overall Pretty Good Deal (Only 1 issue)

The TV is easy to setup and use. The picture quality is quite good and is easy enough to adjust in the TV settings. The Vizio Free TV is pretty cool and offers some cool channels that I didn't think I would actually use. The one problem I have with this TV is the audio quality. The audio is quite poor- not much depth and plenty of distortion at normal listening levels. If you get this TV, you will definitely want to have your own speaker system, whether it be a sound bar or surround sound system. I do and would probably not keep the TV if I did not have these options.
