Streaming services unavailable

I bought this TV for myself after having the same TV for more than 15 years. I'm very disappointed that the two streaming services I use the most, HBO and Spotify, are not available on it. It also seems like I am not able to download them either. I feel like I wasted the money that I spent on this TV. I probably won't buy a Vizio again.

Hello Raimy, this TV uses our SmartCast Platform which offers a host of built in apps, as well as support for Google's Chromecast, Apple's AirPlay 2, and voice support for SIRI, Google Home, and Alexa. You are not able to manually download additional apps, however new apps are added to the platform often. If you find there is an app you want to watch that is not on SmartCast you may be able to cast it using Chromecast or Apple AirPlay from your phone or mobile device. If you’d like any help taking advantage of all the options VIZIO has to enjoy your content, our customer service team would be happy to speak with you at 844-254-8087.

Lack luster TV with input control issues.

I bought this TV last September 2020. I got it setup and connected the HDMI cable to the STB and ethernet cable to the TV. Navigating the various inputs seems cumbersome. Pressing the Input button displays a horizontal menu you have to scroll through to find the desired input. There is Smartcast, Airplay, Watchfree, CableBox and any other devices you might have connected like the Switch. You have to be quick to choose because once you stop scrolling it will change in about a second. Picture quality is pretty good, but a the moment I don't have any 4K sources available so I cannot comment on that. Sound quality from the internal speakers is poor. You should consider purchasing a sound bar for decent audio. There appears to be a problem with the optical connection to the sound bar. The audio does not sync well with the video. There is an adjustment in the TV settings to compensate for that but it did not work as well as I hoped. The most noticeable issue with the TV is the faulty input logic on the control board. Frequently, the TV refuses to turn on by either the TV controls or remote. It simply does not respond to the controls and the only way to reset it is to unplug the power cable. I have to do this at least a dozen times a week and it is tiresome. I wish I could unload this TV but it is unlikely I would recoup half of what I paid for it.

My 2nd review!

Hi thanks for trying to improve my tv! I wrote y'all a review weeks ago and I saw minor improvements on my channel searching but there's still a 2 second delay when pressing the numbers on my remote. I highly appreciate y'all trying though. My second review is about downloading more apps into the TV. I wanted to download the Showtime app so I can see occasional boxing matches but I couldn't find the app on the TV. The Showtime app on my phone wouldn't let me screencast it into the TV so I thought the Showtime app on the TV would make it easier. You have a boxing fan here so just a heads up!

Love the apps, but built-in speakers need help.

I now have (3) Vizio TVs and for the most part am happy with them. I must say though, the built-in speakers aren't so good. You absolutely MUST add a sound bar if you want to clearly hear voices. Cranked up to 60, I still struggled I also think you should include the wall mount screw hole spacing dimensions on the outside of box. That would be helpful.

Very easy set up, great picture quality

I have 4 TVs in my house. All are Vizio. They are extremely easy to set up, they have a very nice picture quality. One of my Vizio TVs is 8 years old and still works great. My new V-Series 50 is excellent. Good price, good quality. What more can you want.

Great 40" TV

I love this Tv in that it is thin and nice looking! I have really had to fix the color/brightness/sharpness to my liking. I like all the apps below so I can stream! My 18 year old daughter taught me a lot about streaming on this tv! Wish picture in picture was available -only con!

It's an okay TV. Does it's job. The remote is an issue. You try to lower the volume and it changes channels. You try to pick a movie out of Netflix you select right on the remote and it goes down. My friend said she has a VIZIO and her remote does the exact same thing. Annoying.

Some issues

Great TV, however their seems to be issues with connectivity with outside sources such as USB and Chrome cast. The TV will "lock up" or freeze and we have to unplug the set to get it working again. Sound and picture are very nice though and it is very user friendly.

Hello Sirepud, thank you for taking time to leave some feedback. This TV uses our SmartCast Platform which offers a host of built-in apps, as well as support for Google's Chromecast, Apple's AirPlay 2, and voice support for SIRI, Google Home, and Alexa. This could help explain issues with attaching a second Chromecast device. I would recommend to use the built-in casting. In regards to the USB connections, we want to make sure that the USB drive is formatted to FAT32 and has only supported file types, typically JPEG and MP3, loaded on it. If you have any questions or need any assistance, we are available through text message, chat, or over the phone. Just go to support.VIZIO.com and click on ‘Contact Us’.

Great TV for the price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this tv now for a year and it has been everything I needed it to be. The Wi-Fi streaming ability is fantastic for my kids to share YouTube videos. I was also about to find an inexpensive wall mount and the TV looks great in our living room.

Overall Pretty Good Deal (Only 1 issue)

The TV is easy to setup and use. The picture quality is quite good and is easy enough to adjust in the TV settings. The Vizio Free TV is pretty cool and offers some cool channels that I didn't think I would actually use. The one problem I have with this TV is the audio quality. The audio is quite poor- not much depth and plenty of distortion at normal listening levels. If you get this TV, you will definitely want to have your own speaker system, whether it be a sound bar or surround sound system. I do and would probably not keep the TV if I did not have these options.
