Just do it!

Waited a year before writing this as I wanted a longer term perspective. Having never had one I felt I should learn to cook on it before passing judgement. Had to actually learn how to control temperatures so as not make sacrifices to the meat gods. It took a bit, yet learn I did and after a year of use it is simply the best grill/smoker I have ever owned, and God knows I love my Weber. It now sits next to my barrel smoker. When you buy this, buy the deflector plate and a two readout meat thermometer. Without the above prepare to limit success and increase disappointment. These are the only two "extras". Learn to cook by temperature and not time unless doing pizza. You don't need to spend a hundred on a thermometer, $25.00 will get you all you need. This is a great long term investment. It is heavy, you want it to last. Don't complain. It comes complete, every other brand sell their add-ons. This comes with a pull out ash drawer, life just got easier right there. And if for some reason you you want to convert to to gas this one allows you to. It is designed to be enjoyed and used, not abused. Treat it fairly by taking the time to learn to run it and you will be a very happy person.

Quality and value perfectly balanced

Got tired of listening to my friend rave about his BGE (Big Green Egg) and started looking into kamado-style grills for myself. Worthy note that I currently own a Weber Summit gas grill and an electric smoker - both get plenty of use, but I'm always looking for a way to elevate my grilling game. Doing my research, I was pleased to find some new-ish entries in the ceramic grill market but found some concerning reviews around quality in the 'more affordable' units. Just when I was ready to 'go safe' and buy a BGE, I came across Vision Grills. Reviews were pretty solid with a very small # of exceptions for broken parts or missing parts, but what caught my attention was the level of customer service and the company's dedication to taking care of every customer that reached out to them. They are obviously dedicated to building their brand and back it up with action in service. The Vision Classic B at Sam's Club was a great price and I felt very comfortable placing my order. The packaging of the grill was exceptional. Box measured 33"x33"x27" and weighed 220lbs. Assembly was very easy and minimal. The suggestion to have a helper for assembly due to weight is not a typical disclaimer requirement or the company covering their butt for liability. You should definitely have someone help you. It is heavy as it's mostly assembled. I've had a few initial cooks in the unit and am learning the ins and outs of controlling the heat. It can be a little tricky with any grill of this type, but is worth the investment of your time. The result of the food cooked in this grill are very noticeable and I am geeking out over what I am doing next. Lots of good recipes and tips on the Vision Grills website as well. Overall Pros: Great quality and value come together in a Zen-like balance. Very good heat control with no real noticeable air leakage. Incredible flexibility in cooking methods. All my buddies are jealous. Cons: Vision Lava Rock Heat Deflector is very porous and I intend to replace it with something else. Lots of POP (advertising labels) stuck to shelves and grates of unit (I'm sure it's required by Sam's Club for display purposes). The adhesive used for all these labels could be improved upon. Had to scrape with a plastic edger so as not to scratch surface and then use Goo-Gone to remove residual adhesive. I am very satisfied with my purchase and highly recommend this to anyone looking for a new grilling adventure.

My Second Vision.

I bought the first one 2 years ago at the Sams Club store. Being a snowbird I took the Grill with me up North. Used it all summer, and when it came to moving it back I decided to purchase a Second one for my Florida Home. The last one was purchased over the Internet. I owned a Green Egg before for 12 Years, was very happy with it, but because of price difference decided to purchase the Vision. The Vision has so many features that are better than the Egg. I can control the temperature better. The inner bowl on the Egg has cracked a couple of times and I had to replace. On the Vision this Bowl is a separate Item, has a split in it so it can expand during heat. The ash removal feature is great. In addition, I also owned 3 Kamado Ceramic Tiled smokers. These looked beautiful, but cannot compare to the Vision at double the cost. Two of the Kamados are now Junk. I wish they would still sell them in the store so we could save shipping. I use the smoker 5 times a week, and at least both smokers once a week.

The vision grill legs gave up!

Hello, I'm writing to see if someone can help me at Sams Club Online or at Vision Grill, I purchased a vision grill for my father about 3 years ago and unfortunately we had a bad experience with it. I will attach the pictures so you can see. We were all cooking in the backyard when all a sudden the grill fell to the side. We had never had issues with it. My father loved it, he still does! It was his Father's Day present 3 years ago. I don't have the receipt anymore. I purchased it at Sams Club inside the Club not online. Is there anyway y'all can do something? He was always cooking, smoking and baking on his vision grill. Hope to hear from someone. The good thing, no one got hurt when it fell especially there were no kids around the vision grill.

great product and awesome customer service

Got this grill/smoker for fathers day. Love it . Getting used to the ceramic heat and love the flavor of everything cooked so far. The top vent on the grill broke. Don't know if it fell off or what happened but it broke. Sent email and customer service sent new one asap. Pretty harmless effort on our part. Back to grilling again.

It's the little things that ruin it

We purchased this grill in August of 2017. Started grilling with it and loved the way they cook. Then the little things started to occur. The charcoal grate split, and I was told by Vision that they had back ordered that part, would have to wait, and I'm still waiting. The the top vents two halves came apart, because the top half broke. They sent out a new vent, and it's okay but it's not like the original one, no problem, but it shouldn't have occurred, no stress. Now the wheels on the frame are pulling out, and I'm waiting to see what their fix could possibly be, since when the first one came of it ripped out of the cheap, thin frame, now another one is coming out also. I expected this to be a purchase that should have been solid for years, but it seems there was a lot of short cuts in China. I guess I see why there are so many people making wooden stands for theirs.

Love this grill

Maybe love is too strong of a word for a grill. But, not by much. I received this as a birthday gift (at my request) and have enjoyed it from the moment I got it assembled. Don't believe the 20 minute assembly. It took about an hour and a half. Then I lit it up just to test the control vents and to have an idea what it was capable of doing prior to using it to cook. The first thing was two smoked chickens. I got them a little too smokey for Dinner chickens (my fault not the fault of the grill). But, they were moist and tender and great for sandwiches or as a topping for salads. Next was pizza using the heat deflector (lava stone) sold separately as a pizza stone. Great pizza! the next weekend it was beef ribs, asparagus, green beans and grilled avocados. YUM! this weekend, it was wings and cauliflower steaks Friday night and barbecue ribs, asparagus and green beans Saturday night with left overs for Sunday lunch. If I had it to do over again, the only thing I would do different, is buy this grill sooner. My Webber grills are getting very lonely and are likely to turn up in a yard sale some day soon.

Food is yummy but grill is not so great

Bought this for my husband for Fathers Day. It smokes and grills really well and that's really what matters most. But...the papers taped on each of the pop up shelves stuck and we can't peel a lot of it off. The paint/stain on the shelves is flaking off and one of the wheels has already bent. And we really have only had it on our back porch and the cover on when we aren't using it. So would I buy one again, probably. But these issues we've had shouldn't have happened.

Great Product, beats the Big Green Egg

I have wanted a Kamado grill for some time and researched the many different options. I even borrowed my friend's Big Green Egg for a week and put it through the tests, but just couldn't justify dropping over $1,000 for the Egg and accessories. I went with the Vision about 2 weeks ago and have been thrilled with the results. Set up was easy. For my initial fire I slowly brought the grill up to 225* and held it there for 3 straight hours, didn't cook anything, but was very pleased that there were no air leaks coming from the removable ash drawer or felt sealing. I then brought it up to 350* and grilled some wonderful chickens that my family loved. This week I bought a thick sirloin and pork chop, brought the temp all the way up to 650* and was very pleased at the searing ability. Last night, I completed my first pork shoulder over night that turned out fantastic. The temp held between 225* and 250* for 12 hours and still had charcoal left to burn. As I type this, my first rack of ribs is on and the temp has held for 3 solid hours around 235*. I also ordered the lava stone and highly recommend it, allowing the temp to hold easier and making smoking much easier to last longer. The double grates are wonderful and having the side tables standard is also a big plus. I LOVE the removable ash tray and really worried that it would leak air and make temp regulation a challenge, but found it is air tight and have no problems whatsoever. I used the Big Green Egg for a week, and now the Vision for two. I genuinely believe this is a much better value for the price with all the needed accessories less than half of the BGE. I am extremely happy with the quality of the build and plan to use this on many, many occassions. My poor electric smoker, stick burner, and gas grill already feel like orphans.
