Brother XR3774C Sewing Machine with Wide Table and Motion/Open Toe Quilting Foot

This is a good basic sewing machine.  I have been happy with the simplicity of this machine and the quality of the stitches.

I love this machine. Previous had a very expensive machine, and the service fee cost about the same as this machine and I like it so much better.

Good machine, just few problems

Unreliable. I bought 9 of these machines to teach sewing classes. I spend more time troubleshooting than sewing with my students. They are cheaply made. Thread tangles a lot. Self threader is too difficult to use especially for my older and very young students. Screwdriver is laughable and too small to be useful. Tension is a constant problem. No spool top  holders included. Needle and foot screws fall out from the machine vibrations. Stitch guide is backwards. Buttonhole foot is difficult to use. Overall not efficient or reliable.

I Tell my students-DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!

This is my first “nice” machine. I’ve only ever had cheaper machines before. The provided instructions are clear and helpful. The bobbin is easy to wind, load, and draw up. I am loving the self threading tool! I actually don’t mind changing thread now. I just finished my first quilt and the only issues I had were user error. The ONLY thing I wish is that the storage compartment had a little door to close like I’ve seen on some other machines to keep things secure.
