This is my first “nice” machine. I've only ever had cheaper machines before. The provided instructions are clear and helpful. The bobbin is easy to wind, load, and draw up. I am loving the self threading tool! I actually don't mind changing thread now. I just finished my first quilt and the only issues I had were user error. The ONLY thing I wish is that the storage compartment had a little door to close like I've seen on some other machines to keep things secure.

This is the first sewing machine I've ever owned and for a beginner I feel like it's a perfect machine! Very easy to set up and very easy to use! I am super pleased with this machine!

Thread never breaks, sews smoothly and you can adjust the needle position for perfect 1/4 inch seams or any width seam you want. I hemmed 2 pair of jeans recently. Sews right thru denim. Making a quilt right now!

This was a gift and I'm thrilled about all this machine can do. I'm still learning about the features but definitely happy to own this product.

I’ve only done a few small projects on this machine so far, but I am very happy with it. It is easy to use (the bobbin took a few tries) and the stitch quality is excellent. This is good for a beginner or an experienced sewer. I bought three similar machines to teach beginners on, and so far everyone has done well with them.

I have returned to sewing in late middle age, and this is the first sewing machine I have owned since high school. I did a considerable amount of research before my purchase, and I think I made a very good decision with this machine. Pros? Comes with SO many specialized 'foots' and accessories that I have been able to grow into. Especially considering the reasonably low price. Additionally, Brother support lasts for 365 days after purchase, there are lots of videos on line, and there is an English speaking, USA based customer service number. Very happy with this machine.

bought this for a friend a few months ago she loves it says has a few things she misses with her old machine but for the price is a good machine..so just purchased one for my daughter now that i know its a good one..

I had a 40+ year old Pfaff I needed to replace and wanted something simple for mending, hemming, etc. I did a lot of research and chose this Brother machine after reading a lot of reviews. It is quite easy to set up and I really appreciate the easy way to thread the needle as my eyes aren't what they used to be. The stitching options are easy to understand though I've only used a few so far. A few things I don't like - there really is no storage on the machine - no place to keep extra bobbins, seam ripper, etc - that fit well in my old Pfaff storage. The case that comes with it is fine to keep dust out but the handle doesn't really line up so I end up moving it by holding on to the base rather than the machine grip. I guess I was used to the features of my old machine but will eventually get used to these as well.

Threader does not work... easier to squint and thread your needle manually. Very basic machine, takes care of household needs/mending. Small throat cannot accommodate anything larger than single pieces of clothing. No needle return/index button. Inclusion of walking foot is nice, but there is very little clearance to change feet or needles.

I have a hard time getting this machine to sew. It doesn't want to star or move forward to sew. Then, I used the Walking Foot the other day for thick fabric, and I had to push it through. I was using the heavy fabric needle, but it doesn't want to sew over 3 or 4 layers of fabric! Also, I have a hard time getting my fingers into the area to change the needle with that dime sized screwdriver! Very small area for changing a needle. My machine has been looked at by the Dealership in Eugene & they say, there is nothing wrong. I have been sewing for 60 years, so I know sewing machines, and this one is stubborn!
