We just got our BYD pergola set up and it is absolutely perfect!!! We love it so much! The assembly took about 10 hours for two people. And its features of opening and closing are fantastic! We love having a nice place to enjoy dinner as a family outside!! And it offers a great amount of shade, which will be especially nice this summer!!!

I bought this to replace my gazebo that was destroyed by the hurricane. It is very nice and the louvers are cool. One word of caution during assembly: make sure you get the long beams set the right way. The instructions aren’t clear on that and we had to remove all the louvers and flip the beams over.

Bought and installed May of 2025. Took me and a buddy about 3.5 hours to fully assemble. We noted that some paint had been damaged during transport, but otherwise all parts, hardware, and assembly tools were there. Given all the rain we've been having, it was perfect weather to put the folding louvers to the test - needless to say, we grilled and chilled uninterrupted by mother nature. My only concern is the linkage for opening and close the louvers; but time will tell if it holds up.

I looked for a long time before deciding on this product. The price was good and it didn't disappoint. We hired a handyman service to assemble and bolt to our deck. It's a sleek design, and we love that it has the drainage system and the option to have the slats open or closed. Provides great shade and even allows my husband to grill when it's raining! They're very sturdy. We get strong winds where we live and we've had no issues with the structural integrity. We liked this so much that we bought a second one for the other part of our deck. I highly recommend.

Am a former heavy truck/bus, now train mechanic, so I know my way around assembling stuff. This wasn't bad. However I did noticed several things, it's supposedly powder coated but I noticed a tiny paint chip on one of the pieces. Pretty insignificant, I just hoped it really is galvanized and doesn't rust on that spot. Additionally one of the shorter top beams had a bunch of dents in the middle. It's not too noticable ones the roof is closed, but when it's opened looks like Rocky Balboa used it for training. But the biggest gripe is the ceiling louvers. I put them all together exactly the same as far as end brackets, and placed into the slotted rails, and covered those slotted rails with the flat bar, and connected all the louvers with the straps with hitch pins, but underneath when it's closed, it's just not even. Some louvers dip down a bit, so while they appeared to be totally fine when unpacking, I'm not sure if they're slightly bowed? I can't really imagine what else would cause that. But I was really hoping it would be flat under the whole thing. Haven't had rain really yet since I assembled, so I'm hoping the rain truly does fall into the gutters & out and not through the questionable louvers because that would be a real shame... Maybe I'll call them and see what they think?

Backyard Discovery is by far the best Pergola around. I looked at all the competitors and they were no better than the Backyard Discovery. They wanted to charge from 3X to 5X more for their product for nothing. When it arrived it was exactly as advertised and easy to assemble, we put it together in about 5 hours it came in 4 boxes with nothing missing. We added the lighting and will install a rollup screan to personalize. Very impressed, by far the best for the money. Construction Tip: Get a good hammer drill and good bits to anchor in to concrete or stone.

We just landscaped our backyard around the pool. Our landscape architect recommended the Sarasota 10x20 Pergola and after reading the reviews I was sold. I'm 71 years old and I built about 85% of it by myself. I needed help to stand it up and add two beams and two posts. I also had my partner hand me the louvers to avoid going up and down the latter so many times. I used the printed directions as well as the App instructions and it was a breeze to assemble. Every single part fit together perfectly! I highly recommend this pergola for its price, quality of material, beauty, and ease of assembly. You can't go wrong!!!

I bought this a month ago. Sturdy and I like the retractable feature. Steel and black adds to the concrete patio. I can have a good outdoor time without worrying the direct sun. I can have half sun and half shade! I can have a good time during rain without getting wet. Love the summer rain time. Kids love it. Highly recommended.

We purchased a larger side version for one portion of our deck then purchased this smaller size to fit another portion of our deck. It's well made and had a sleek look to it. We hired a handyman to assemble and bolt to our deck. We like being able to open and close the slats on top. Very easy to use and provides total coverage when it rains. The drainage system works well. We sometimes get high winds where we live but have had no issues with structural integrity.

My patio desperately needed some shade and though I love pergolas, I didn’t feel that the traditional wooden pergola would work in my space. And temperature extremes plus wood leads to expensive replacements. This pergola is the perfect solution. Love the look. Structure is heavy duty. I added curtains and cafe lights. Couldn’t be happier.
