We have two of the older table top machines. We absolutely hate this upright machine. You have elevate the food to vacuum and seal. And if you want to make a simple sesl it’s very difficult. We love our older table top machines. They are so simple to use.

I went and bought some meat just to test it out and the controls were cumbersome at first but after a couple times you get the hang of it. It is very straightforward and comes with a step by step video on how to use the machine and the different accessories you can buy separately with it. It's not a magic machine but it does what it says it will do. The meat looked air tight and secure and the machine was not complicated at all. Now I just want to see if it will last as long as it says it will and will the meat be fresh and not frost bitten like regular meat just in the freezer. Now, I view food in categories: bulk prepared meals (sealed fresh/frozen), leftovers (sealed for another night), seal/freeze seasonal fruits and vegetables so they're always fresh and ready to eat. My favorite thing is buying high-quality cuts of meat, fish, chicken and turkey breasts on a great sale price. There are some many ways to utilize my food saver, I bought another freezer!!

It's really easy to use and the retractable cord attachment is super convenient. I used the machine for saving left over cheese, reselling deli meat, and my personal favorite-marinating steaks over night. I got better results doing that compared to leaving it in a regular zipper bag over night. DISCLAIMER-I received this product free to test in my home.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the food sealer for two weeks now. I like its looks and think that it is made well and will last. I am not convinced that it takes ALL the air out though. I sealed different items at different times and I can see where there are ice crystals inside the bag where all of the air did not come out. Although it could be that I just have to get used to it. It's a little difficult to seal the bags because you need two hands to hold it while pressing the button underneath to seal it, but overall I am very pleased with it. It keeps frozen items much better than using plastic wrap or plain zipper bags. The only thing that I would change is to have an automatic sealer. I received this product as a sample to review.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is such a great investment. I was able to seal and then freeze some steak within 5 minutes of opening the box. Easy to read and then follow instructions. Haven't had a chance to test out the steaks yet, or else I wouldn't have sealed them up for later. I received this product for free.

I bought this and am very unhappy wwith it. I should have paid attention to the issues folks have with the design. It is difficult to balance and correctly align the loaded bag four inches above the surface. I've used Foodsavers for years and am glad I didn't throw out my last one (which is quite old and needs coddling) as this one goes back tomorrow!

Took a little bit to figure it out, even with the videos. I would make a few small bags before you go nuts. The biggest knock would be the price of all the accessories and bags. If they could make it more affordable or have lower quality bags for shorter term storage that would be awesome.

The FM5460 operates perfectly - vacuums and seals quickly, both the base unit as well as the handheld sealer, with little waste in bag usage. However, I feel that the design suffers with having to hold the bag so high up to insert it into the window. It's difficult to have several items, such as pork chops, stay in single layer position when at such an angle. Lower machines have the advantage of the bag being supported by the countertop. I solved the problem by turning a 13x9" pan over so the bag could rest on that for support. That's my one disappointment with this model.

The sealer comes ready to use with plenty of bags and pouches to get you started. The dealer has plenty of power to get all the air out and the seal is great. I look forward to using this sealer for many years to come and believe it will save money being able to preserve food.
