I was pleasantly surprised by the aroma when I started cooking. However, the slices which broke apart during the process. I really like the reduced fat content and the lack of artifical ingredients. I cooked up 8 slices, 4 almost fully crispy (not burnt) and 4 with just a little crispness around the edges. The bacon did crisp up well and didn't curl in the pan like the pork bacon does. The beef bacon didn't really have much of a smoke flavor to it, it tasted more like a warm pastrami with the seasonings the company put on it. The more crispy pieces reminded me more of eating a beef jerky then bacon, It was chewy. It is rather salty so I think it would be better paired with something (wrapped around asparagus, etc) then eaten on its own. All in all it was one of the better beef bacon products that I have tried and the Sam's Club price makes it more affordable then grocery store alternatives. This was my first time trying beef bacon, but with less sodium than your average bacon, less fat, and no nitrates, I'm very glad I discovered and gave this a try. The bacon cooks the same as regular bacon but comes out a redder hue. At first taste you can't tell the difference from regular, good bacon of a thicker cut, especially if you're eating it with other breakfast foods. If you eat it alone and pay attention there's a little bit of a beef flavor, like beef jerky with a bacon texture instead of a jerky texture. Jerky is not my favorite flavor, but I don't really mind it in this bacon, especially if you eat it with other foods, and I'm happy to choose it for a healthier choice. Pretty sure this bacon would be killer in soups or casseroles. Make some white beans or potato soup or ranch chicken with some of this and hoo boy would that be good. Definitely going to be trying one or two of those with the rest of this pack. All in all, I'm glad I found this, and I would buy it again. Something I have to say is that first off, bacon is not at all what this product reminds me of. I was a bit cautious when I started, because it is much more similar to very thin strips of corned beef. However, I love corned beef, and so that is not an issue at all for me. It also does not cook up exactly like pork bacon. The look of the finished product is remarkably similar to the way it looks going into the pan. overall, it is not what I think of when I think of bacon, but I still think it is a delicious product and definitely something that I would be willing to try again. I purchased the Godshalls angus steak beef bacon today. I really enjoyed how feeling it was. It has a great flavor. I am looking forward to cooking more in the morning. My husband enjoyed it as well.
