I don't know what happened to this pack of Diet Coke. Granted, it's been awhile since I've had a Diet Coke (Dr Pepper Zero fan here). My usual soda has increased in price and some of Coke's products were on sale, so I bought a package of Coke Zero and one of Diet Coke. I tried the Coke Zero first and found it rather unpleasant tasting. A few days later, I opted to try the Diet Coke. When I broke the seal of the cap, there was no pshsh sound. As I poured it over a cup of ice, there was no fizz. A sip revealed no cola flavor. I could detect only the artificial sweetener. I'm not going to try any more coke products and I'm wondering if these were on sale for a reason.

Flat and Taste Only of Bitter Sweetener

Diet Coke has always been my go-to soda, especially compared to other diet sodas. I avoid ordering any other brands of sugar free soda when I'm out because I prefer the flavor of Diet Coke and like that it has a slightly sweet taste without being overpowering or too sweet. To me, regular Coke just tastes much sweeter, so I personally stick prefer the sugar-free option instead.

These 16.9 oz bottles are a good size for throughout the day and feel a little more practical than standard cans since they hold more. I also think the bottles help the soda stay tasting fresher and keep more of the carbonation in between sips. The screw-on caps are convenient for taking on the go or resealing later without worrying about it going flat too quickly.

The flavor is crisp and has just the right amount of bubbles, and I like having one with a meal or as a quick caffeinated pick-me-up during the day.  It also goes great with snacks like chips, pretzels or popcorn. The caffeine level feels a little lighter than coffee, which I personally prefer when I just want a bit of energy without something too strong. The texture of the soda is carbonated but not creamy or rich.

The six-pack format is convenient to keep around, and I also appreciate that the bottles are recyclable. There's nothing especially unique or complicated about this soda, but the flavor, bottle size, and resealable packaging are all things I consistently enjoy. I always prefer this compared to other sodas with sugar or add-ins like vanilla or berry flavor. It's still my favorite type of soda overall.
