Walmart asked me to review… Diet Coke. Trust me, it's the same Diet Coke you'd find anywhere but if you're suspicious it's not, you now have my word that it is in fact Diet Coke. You are not wrong to be as confused as I was about why I would be asked to review Diet Coke for Walmart, but here we both are in 2026 doing oddball things on the Internet for our Corporate overlords. I have complied now and hope I am still able to shop at Walmart. But if not, I think I'll be okay.

I know I am probably not the only person to admit I am addicted to diet coke. I would guess that 75 percent of the time, my decision on where I chose to do my main weekly shopping trip is decided by seeing who has the best sale on diet coke. Most of the time that is not Walmart. I always place a very substantial order with Walmart at the beginning of the month and order staples and pantry items to last for the month because I trust I can get these items at the best price on my limited Social Security income. But beyond that I usually shop weekly to fill in on meat, vegetables, fuit and diet coke depending who has the best sales on these items. But I will often make a special stop to get the best price on Diet Coke. I wish I could depend on Walmart to offer the best price or match the the best local price.

I am a Diet Coke devoté. If I thought I could do it at my age, I would drink nothing but Diet Coke like I did 10 years ago. When I’m thirsty, nothing cuts through a dry throat like Diet Coke. It has flavor and it’s not too sweet. Do I wish it was healthier? Sure as long as it tasted just as good. I was cutting way back on my Diet Coke because the cost had gone up so high and then Walmart lowered their price so that it was lower than the local grocery stores around it even when they put it on sale. The new packaging on the bottles of Diet Coke are a NIGHTMARE to open. Every time I have to cut the cardboard completely apart to get one bottle out. Especially for seniors, this is quite a task! Now, this is nothing against about Walmart. It's about Coke, INC or whoever does their marketing for packaging. They need to change it!

It’s like playing the stock market trying to buy this product. The price can fluctuate 20-40% depending on when you buy it, and the cost is up 100-150% over the past 12-18 months. Someone is making a ton of money, and it’s not the consumer. Better to drink water.

I don't know what happened to this pack of Diet Coke. Granted, it's been awhile since I've had a Diet Coke (Dr Pepper Zero fan here). My usual soda has increased in price and some of Coke's products were on sale, so I bought a package of Coke Zero and one of Diet Coke. I tried the Coke Zero first and found it rather unpleasant tasting. A few days later, I opted to try the Diet Coke. When I broke the seal of the cap, there was no pshsh sound. As I poured it over a cup of ice, there was no fizz. A sip revealed no cola flavor. I could detect only the artificial sweetener. I'm not going to try any more coke products and I'm wondering if these were on sale for a reason.
